FA stuff and 2950 too. (2 for 1 <BARGAIN!>)

RD: I don't think that any nation in the original 2950 could ever raise

6000

cav (unless perhaps they were runaway winners!).

** my nation is close to this in ME23.... go on Gavin concede... Clint

I believe that it is relatively easy to get a nation to raise 6000HC in
2950... I am currently in a game before turn 10 and my nation can already
support around 5000HC. The fact that we currently only have 2000 is due to a
lack of mounts which should soon be corrected. I expect to have 6000HC by
turn 20 at the latest.

Also I should point out that Curses does exist in FA and I know of people
that are using it right now <grin>.

Hi Thomas,

Well, GSI confirmed a little while ago that in FA
there are no curses artifacts. I hope they weren't
lying.

However, I do know of one way to get curses in FA,
and perhaps that is what you are referring to.
Namely to have encounters. If a character kills
a wight or werewolf or whatever, the character
gets gold and rank increase; mages also get one
spell -- which can sometimes be a lost list
spell, and sometimes can be curses, even in FA
(I know of a case of that happening). In addition,
in your starting setup one character gets one
bonus, and I know of a case where a starting
mage got the bonus and it was knowledge of curses.

I suppose that in the case of encounters, a determined
player could send out some mages to try to have
encounters.

You've certainly intrigued me, I wonder if there
is another way besides what I've listed, or whether
there really can be artifacts in 4th-age that give
curses despite GSI's claim.

RD: That's two more reasons I'm not keen on FA. Not only are artifacts more
difficult to find (which is perfectly acceptable) but they only give access
to single spells instead of the whole string. Thus you can find an art
giving access to Weakness but not Sickness or Curses, and you can't learn
the latter two despite having the prerequisite spell!

Not only have the artifacts been effectively weakened, but there are no
dragons! C'mon, what kinda fantasy game is it without dragons?

Regards,

Richard.
