Hmm. Pick from a drop down list of three suggested, or select
"other", and only then get taken to a second page where one can
specify that "other". Not impressed with Flagship here, a mechanism
for statistical gathering which can be guaranteed to skew the results
significantly.

This is not a poll to find the Overal Best Turn-based Game, it is to
find the Game of the Year 2005. As such the nominations process
reflected the arrival of new games (which surely deserve to be
recognised?) as well as being informed by the games recommended by our
readers throughout the year (via Rumours from the Front and other
correspondence).
The Flagship team recognise that your personal favourite game might
not be one of those nominated - thus the 'write-in' option. Think of
it as being like the Oscars with a twist ... the new films are
nominated and gain the kudos they deserve, but you still get the
chance to give the Oscar to the Lord of the Rings again!

Or... you could just have a level playing field, and thus a
meaningful result.
Game of the Year "focussed" on new games, or ONLY games introduced in
2005? Motor Trend's Car of the Year is only cars from that year, the
57 vette doesn't get voted on.
If it's only 2005 Games, then it's ambiguous. If it's not, then
Laurence is bang on.
