Follow the artifact question ...

2950 Game.

Three armies on the WK capital, currently a MT/F.

One army is FK - 1000 troops. One character, commander 35, no artifacts.
One army is DkLts - 1200 troops. 2 characters, one a pure C45 with a 750 combat artifact, other a C20/A20/M50 with two artifacts (2250 combat and 30 mage).

Opposing army of NG - 2000 troops, one commander C50-59.

FK army watches the whole thing and doesn’t move off.

DkLts army attacks enemy, gets wiped, the CAM is killed in combat, the C45 is captured during combat. (boy, I’ve seen lots more of this result lately)

The same turn, the NG army attacks the PC (hoping that we won’t defend it, or wanting to seige the WK capital), and gets wiped - the commander dies in the attempt. I am sure he attacked the PC - confirmed by the WK.

So by the end of the turn, the C45 is freed (without the combat artifact), the CAM is dead, the NG commander is dead (I tried an 620 with Carrog and got the “character ID not available” message).

Where are the artifacts? I’d assume that all three ended up on the ground. Urzahil (74/114 mage rank) the next turn failed with two 900 orders, and another character failed with a 796 order. Should I continue wasting 900 orders?

Mark,
I would guess that the artifacts are on North Gondor’s BACKUP commander. When the army kamakazied against the walls, only the army commander gets killed, not any backup command characters. When the army commander died I would guess that the artifacts are passed on the the backup commander such as in a challenge. I wouldn’t bother wasting any more 900 orders and instead do at least one LAT. That’s my best guess.

Scavenger

Sometimes and I have the turns to show this items dropped through curses and death simple vanish for a turn or two.

LATS wont work either on them, so it is possible you can drop items and they will not reappear for a few turns.

Just a thought.

Vandal

I cursed out a couple of FP characters in WK pop center in a GB game. The artifacts we on the ground via LAT. Urzahil and Bolvag moved with 900’s and both failed. I thought it may be tougher to pick up a dropped artifact in someone else’s pop center but I don’t have any real data to support that.
Old Rulebook states is a “hard” order based on mage rank, power of the artifact and terrain. I may have just bad rolls but I was surprised I could not get the artifacts off the ground. Old rulebook also says it is harder to pick up artifacts that were secreted by another nation but that should have no bearing in my case.

Thanks for the responses guys, I think I’ll try a LAT and send Urzahil somewhere more useful.
