So, I’m planning on upgrading the forums to version 3.0.1 (currently we’re using version 2.3.5).
The reason for this is to gain the use of a bunch of new features, as well as to stay on top of code updates. It’s only a matter of time before the version that this forum is running now ceases to be supported.
The reason I bring this up at all is because the new version looks a little different, and I don’t want to just drop it on everyone unannounced. So if you’d like to have a look at it, just go to http://forums.halo5.net/mepbm_test, and please give me comments if you have any.
P.S. Although the test forum is fully live and functional, it is not synchronized with this one, so anything posted to it will not show up in these forums. Also, when this forum is upgraded, the test forum will be deleted, so any changes made via the test forum will be lost.
Thanks for the input. I had’t really messed with the bluish style, just the orange one. I went back and tweaked the blue one a little and it should be a lot easier to read now.

The best reason would probably be due to laziness on my part. The new version changes the look, not me, and I could probably mess with it enough to get it to look the same as the current version, but I’m far too lazy to do that.
There are three different “styles” that you can use with the new forum software. One is the default, and two are the ones that this site currently uses. You can change them at any time using a drop-down box at the bottom-left corner of any page on the site, and you can set the one you want to use by default in your user options.
Sauron on a stick. I wish we were still using the telegraph. I could read the Olde Forum without my glasses but now I have to put them on to make out the print. The orange is oppressive and the orange letters on grey are mighty tough to read. Give me some guidance Darrell. Thanks.
You can test out the other two color styles by selecting them in the drop-down box at the far bottom-left corner of any page. If you settle on one, you can set it to be your new default in the User CP under the Edit Options section.
Maybe I’m newly color-blind or something, but I’ve never seen any orange, even on the “custom_orange” setting (the background is closer to brown or tan than orange I’d say). All 3 settings look fine and are readable on my computer.
It’s supposed to be a kind of pale orange to match the colors from the http://www.middleearthgames.com/ site, but it seems that different computers/monitors can make everything terribly ugly. Naturally it all looks great to me, but I’m biased.
Well Eddy, I wouldn’t know ‘sea-foam’ from any other blue, I’m not exactly the queer-eye-for-the-straight-guy kind of guy. I still don’t know what you guys were talking about as I never saw any orange text; I’ll even concede the background as ‘pale-orange’ (as if anyone cares). <g>
