Er have you actually _read_ any of the stuff on the new forum?
Virtually
all of it is game specific (which is a Good Thing IMO because we
don't all
have to read it) and virtually all of it is "taunts". Not witty
taunts, or
thought out taunts, but inane remarks which make me think I am much
too old
for this game now (i.e. over 11 years of age). Take a look at the
game 67
thread, as an example if you can bear it.
Again the "ghetto" phenomenon comes into play. Clearly a lot
of "players"
like their taunts, so it must surely be better for them to be out
of sight
and out of mind in nicely labelled threads. Yes, I am becoming too
old for
this game, I am beginning not to care.
As for the posts on this list about setting up new games, I agree
with
you. Clint should be policing this much more rigorously. If it's
an
"advert" to raise a team, or interest for a new game, then it's
relevant,
and should be posted to the list. If it's one person asking about
a game,
or responding to a new game announcement, e.g. a chap by the name
of Paul
Brandon this morning, then he needs telling NOT to put his private
business
into the download trays of 330+ people.
Laurence; why don't you just change the settings on your subscription
to the new forum so that you don't get every posting to your email
inbox. It seems like it would save you a lot of what obviously
aggravates you.
As for which board Paul Brandon posts on, it is his choice. Perhaps
he finds the other board easier to use or likes the format better. I
personally find this board more cumbersome to use, but check it from
time to time as it is part of the overall community.
I hope Clint will start to do this
instead of just replying with an "OK" message to the list, which
generates
more clutter which we don't want to download or read. I have to
bite my
lips every time it happens, and if he does not take it on then soon
I'll be
advising people like Paul of the existence of the direct
me@m... e-mail address. And I don't have a financial
interest, so I won't be so polite. No doubt I'll be accused of
flaming at
Over reacting maybe, but not flaming.
that stage.
For other content on the list, it flares up from time to time quite
nicely. When someone has a question or comment on general strategy
or game
mechanics, this is still the place where it will get the widest
readership
and the most likely response. And as for starting a discussion
here - to
do so for the sake of it, or out of any feeling of "competition"
with the
forum" would be rather contrived wouldn't it? And you Brad, are
just as
capable of starting one as I am. On consideration, I suppose a
good troll
would be refreshing - I always like to se the Americans get wound
up
Nothing for me to get wound up over. I had my experience with you and
your friends. Thank God it's over now. Have a pleasant day Laurence.
