Front Sheet 21/7/04

Hello Everyone

Some new applications: YUM...............

AutoMinister - another great application from Mike Mulka. It enables you to
bring in all the XMLs from your team and keep track on artefacts (lost and
new ones each turn), characters, enemy characters, rumours from enemies
(removing the rumours from your side for ease of reference), but the best
thing (IMO) is the economic projection. Well worth getting; it's a an Excel
application:

http://middle-earth.darkfortress.us to download the file or our website
(Library and Links)

OrderChecker: Bernie Gaider's cool application is designed to check your
orders after you've created them in MEOW or AutoMagic. I've found it caught
LOTS of my errors and very useful. It's a Java application so you'll need
Java for it (MEOW instructions are useful for downloading this). Available
via the website (Library and Links)

If you have any problems with either of these then get in touch.

New mapping program soon to be released - got some snazzy new functions
inlcuding reading direct from PDF. We'll be supporting both for the
forseeable future.

Origin's Awards: Middle Earth PBM just won the Gamer's Choice Awards -
thanks to everyone that voted.

MEOW - MEOW is now also fully compatible with 1000 orders. If you know
anyone using MEOW then you might want to inform them.

The following new games are filling up.
1650 2wk [Game 63]: 18 nations available.[15/7/04] (FilledLast: 20d, 45d,
29d 23d, 31d, 14d, 19d])
2950 2wk [Game 239]: 11 nations available. [9/4/04) (FilledLast:3m8d, 2m14d)
1000 2wk [Game 143]:[29/1/04] 21 nations available Taken: 1 D, 1 F, 1N
[8/7/04) (FilledLast:4m9d, 2m9d)

Grudge Games we need opposition for:
Wotr Variant Tom Francis 12v12 FP or DS, Neutrals to be arranged
1650 Lewis Morton 12v12 any format

Setting up in a game:

When I get all 25 nations into the game I will allocate you your choice of
nation from the list of nations that you have sent me - please send multiple
nation choices as this helps to get everyone their 1st or 2nd choices - if
too many choose only 1 nation the system falls apart. All nations are
potentially available until I set up the game.

Descriptions of the type of game follow - please check this when contacting
me with regards playing in that game. When joining with allies please tell
me so that I can help out. You cannot join 1650/2950 games as Neutral with
an aligned or Neutral ally.

Up to 2 nation game: You can play one or two Aligned nations, or one Neutral
nation.
2 nation game: You must play two nations.

Note please ask for variant games we can try to get you opposition for them
if you are interested - mostly Grudge teams though - if I get 10 players for
any single type of game then I will put it up for general availability below
and push it, always check the rules for variant games;

I have drop-outs available - don't forget you get a free turn for taking
these up...
E [Early] = 0-10 turn, M [Midgame]= 11-20, L [Late game] = 21+ [A= Aligned
if a Neutral, N= not aligned if a Neutral, P = Postal and Email game, G=
Grudge, 1w = 1week game, 3w = 3week game]
Bofa: None;
1000: None;
2950: None
1650: DraLord (L), ClLord (l),
Gunboat; One Duos and 2 singles - please get in touch all in excellent
condition.

(Please note past turns for all these nations are available) Ask for
specifics on what is available.

Thanks
Clint

Thought I would ask here and see if others are having the same prob before bugging Mr. Mulka directly. Might be something I'm doing wrong . . .

I think what may be happening is some computer specific issue where
files are given some ID or reference and that doesn't jive between
two different computers...I am so high tech.

I see this happen with AutoMagic files when I try to move them from
computer to computer.

Gary

if it makes you feel any better I get the same error on my home PC
but not on the one at work( erm..not of course that I would

consider

looking at games while at work  )

Iain,

What version of Excel are you using at home and at work? So far that
looks like the only difference from the E-mails I'm getting.

if it makes you feel any better I get the same error on my home PC
but not on the one at work( erm..not of course that I would consider
looking at games while at work  )
Iain

I'm not Iain, I'm Russ, but I'm using Excel '97 FYI and I'm unable to use AutoMinister.

Hmmm... It appears that Excel 97 has issues with AutoMinister, as that's
the version that keeps coming up with errors.

I'll have to work to make AutoMinister backwards compatible, but I'm
about to go on a trip for a week, so it will have to wait.

Thanks,
Mike Mulka
