Unfortunately at present we are unable to combine the FS with the
Resultsheet (we looked into it and although it canbe done it's out of our
scope at present). For other reasons we can't easily suport the Resultsheet
updating each time. (Takes us around 10 x as long to keep up to date- I
noted that when playing with DGE that it was not very often updated - and
the Message Board was worse).
Targetting players that are receptive is awkward - who would this be? We
have standby lists and I attempt to keep in regular contact with the
list/board (around 3-4 emails on new games each week, and a lot of other
contact such as this one.) Bree is possibly one to bring it to the larger
attention. Note the majority of the players don't ever get in touch with
me, just send in turns, play the game and leave it at that.
For example there is a new variant came out recently. The Gunboat and also
the various Christmas games. Creating a list of receptive players is going
to be nigh on impossible I feel. I would encourage players to read the FS
from time to time (I try to put the dates of items so that you can see if
there are new items on it). It's a bit like the House Rules - I have sent
that to every player in the game asking them to spend 10 minutes reading it.
Since then I have had around 200 queries about the specifics that are
covered in the house rules...
With Grudge games I do only attempt to deal with the Team captains as with
the 12vs12 or 10vs10 game it makes it a lot easier for all concerned. This
already occurs. But when players are looking for opposition I attempt to
put that on the FS as well so that you know what is available out there. I
have a list of Neutrals for 10vs10 and generally can find another player
quickly if need be.
At present game 97 (Wotr Variant) is waiting for Alan to get back in touch
with me. AT THAT point I want to open the game up to others if possible.
Then as per normal in a variant game I would get a list of nations for the
specific players and work that way. (It's the most efficient and quick way
that I have found of filling low player base games. I am considering doing
it for normal 2950 games as well.)
Mark: Stu doesn't generally deal with the MEPBMlist - but I'll pass your
"kind" comments onto him... Note partially due to the best of DGE and
Harlequin for MEPBM Games I think that there is most of the improvements
have come from.
