FS 12/10

Hello everyone...

     Updated (12/5/00)

12/5 Price Changes effective 1st June. All Games: £3.90 per turn
(email/postal/international/1650/2950/1000). Special Service
turn reduced
to £1.00. Phone-ins £2.00 Faxing turns £2.00 extra, reprints
(negotiable)
£2.00. All Credit levels reduced to £0.00. Low funds turns as below.
Sorry for the shock of this, the first price increase/decrease in SIX
years.

doesn't worry this oz player. We are having the 10 % GST (Goods and Services
tax - ie everything) coming in around that time. I'm claiming the taxes that
are being removed won't be passed on (more profit for companies), so i'm
thinking the GST is going to hurt. I've accepted adding 10% to everything.

If someone currently pays more than 3 pounds 90 (this bloody keyboard has no
pound symbol), does their turn cost go down ?

UK credit card payments still at +5%.

Still thinking of letting the UK players pay me money. I charge you 2%, and
pay Clint on your behalf.

10/5 Game 35 was an experimental game in many ways: the first
10v10 game,
and the first Weekend game at Harlequin HQ. It has come to an
end today -
the storming armies of the FP won this one, with early heavy
Emmy action
taking advantage of the superb economies given by the
re-allocation of the
Neutrals' PCs and armies. Individual winner: Chris Littlejohn
(vps1800 as
the Noldo), with Arthedain (vps 1375) coming 2nd and Cardolan
3rd (both run
by Tom Fyfe) storming through the WK and Rhudaur's PCs.

9/5 New variant 2950 game - bigger, better - check out the
newsletter for
information on this. Got 15 players so far.

8/5 One week turnaround game. We will be running a one week turnaround
game with upto 2 nations each. It will be a normal style
game. So far we
have 9 players interested (some for 2 positions) so please get
in touch if
you fancy this intense format.

8/5 Got 16 so far. Plans for the weekend of ME at the office
are afoot.
Date is the 24/25th June so please sign up for then (please
confirm). As
per usual turns will be cheaper (we're considering fixed rate for the
weekend). If you can only make the one day that'll be fine...

I have positions available in a number of games.
2950: Khand Easterlings (15+), Rhun Easterlings (t5+),
Northmen (10+), Dog
Lord (10+)
1650: Cardolan, Easterlings, Ice King (early game), Northern
Gondor (20+)

2950 [Game 28] Normal 2950 game: Available: 1-2, 6-7, 11, 13-23
1650 [Game 51] Normal 1650 game: Available: 6, 10-11, 18, 24-25
1000 [Game48]: 5 so far.

Cheers Clint

*** Yep... And Fourth Age players have a reduction - it's not all bad news
guys... SS turns are cheaper as it's already a big pain for players when
they get SSed as it is. This should help ease the burden with us charging
the basic cost of printing/phoneline etc so we don't lose out too much.
Basically international players benefit (where we are consistently getting a
higher proportion of our new players join from maybe because the UK players
have actually seen us!)

UK credit card payments still at +5%.

Still thinking of letting the UK players pay me money. I charge you 2%, and

**** Yep and we kindly ask you to leave the game. Or if we think
players are abusing it we charge everyone. Basically you be honest, we be
honest. International players find it hard enough to get funds to us so
this helps them. UK players have plenty of options available to them.

We generally keep an eye on players who are, let us say, less than totally
honest. For example I know of at least three players who are running
multiple positions under assumed names, allegedly. So when it comes to a GM
decision we are less likely to help out.. (I have checked with them on
multiple times.) I was thinking that I would like their partner in crime to
contact us directly - generally the brother/spouse/son/father is unlikely to
want to actually lie to us publicly? Opinions on this difficult topic very
welcome even if I am totally in the wrong. (Can't think of anything else to
stop this form of cheating).

(Well, the list has been a bit quiet of late)

I still think (both as a player and as a GM myself) that if a GM is
aware of players running multiple positions in the same game under
assumed names, further start-ups under those false names should be
refused.

I have no problem with someone playing a game under an assumned name,
providing that a) they tell the GM and b) they're not playing multiple
positions in the same game as a result.

Playing multiple positions in one game (especially under assumed names)
is in my view, cheating.

Colin.

I concur - problem for me is: "what if I get it wrong?" What an outcry that
would be. Nightmare. And given enough such refusals I would get it wrong
just by the odds. (I reckon that I am 80% to 100% certain about some
players but with 80% that means 5 refusals and one would be wrong).

So that is why I suggested the "contact the GM programme". That might work?

Clint
