Hello Everyone

Advert: Following up from the advert in Bree; Players needed for the new
module of Star Quest, a sci-fi wargame...

A galaxy devastated by centuries of war, where the very stars themselves
were counted among the victims. On worlds where fantastical cities of
impossible beauty once reached for the stars, spires and stations made
numinous by the light of suns and moons, now there are only broken bones and
homes of twisted metal and glass and stone. Where once civilisations spanned
worlds and stars, now shattered factions struggle for survival, alliances
born of need and broken in desperation. And where flights of ships once
leapt in cascading dance across the night of space, now patched and
repatched ships limp and inch, bearing those fleeing dying worlds.

Yet even as the dust settles, the remaining clans struggling for space and
survival amongst the debris of a dying galaxy, so there arises once more
from its own ashes the empire of the Overlords. Once their regime was
thought destroyed forever. But their conquerors were too careless, too eager
to turn upon each-other, each seeking to take the Overlords' wealth and
worlds for themselves, eventually destroying the galaxy they sought to
possess in their greed, tearing apart families and alliances and worlds and
stars in the process. And now, in the wreckage of war fought by those
claiming themselves on the side of freedom they move to regain what was
lost, worlds and stars falling to their grip once more.

And amongst all of this, there is you...

I have just sent out a copy of the latest version of Automagic, version
2002b. If you're already using Automagic, please check your version number
and change to this if it is more recent. If you're not using Automagic,
please see if you can start to use it. This is a stable version, we don't
expect to make further changes for many months.

Automagic does require that you have Excel, though it works on Windows and
Macintosh computers. It is very helpful for checking that you don't issue
illegal orders, it allows us to use the MAIN automatic inputting system that
eliminates human input errors, and it also has a load of useful features
unconnected to turn writing. I use it and think's it great, and most
players I have found who have used it have found it very useful.

We really want to try and encourage everyone who can use it to try it. The
more turns we can automate, the more time we can spend on customer care and
Research and Development instead of inputting! This will also help us keep
costs down, including future turncosts rises.

If you are unable to use Automagic then please get in touch with us
informing us so that we can see what development work we need to do. If you
do not desire to use Automagic then please take the time to inform us as
well.

There are some helpful web pages dedicated to Automagic on
www.MiddleEarthGames.com including a step by step guide to using AM and a
FAQ. Feel free to ask us for help as well.

Thanks, and I hope you enjoy using Automagic.

Clint
