FS 20/12

Hello Everyone...

The following new games are filling up (note please ask for variant games we
can try to get you opposition for them if you are interested - mostly Grudge
teams though - if I get 10 players for any single type of game then I will
put it up for general availability below and push it):

Bofa: [Game 9] 2wk turnaround game: 10 turn game: 2 nations taken.
1650 2wk [Game 96]: Available - 1, 6, 7, 8, 21, 24
1650 1wk [Game 132] Send me a LIST of nations - when I get to 25 players I
will allocate the positions - 14 positions taken so far (Note 95% of players
get their 1st choice) This is a 2 nation game (ie you can choose 2 nations
to play of the same alignment [not for Neutrals]. You are still able to
play one nation if you want to.)
2950 2wk [Game 227]: Email only game (postal players can play if they have
email) 8 positions in so far - I'll use the same system for taking set-ups
as with Variant games - ie send me a list and when I get to 25 I'll allocate
nations. Preference in clashes for the 1st player to ask for a nation - the
more nations you choose the better nation you get as well.)
1000 2wk [Game 143]: Normal game - only one nation per alignment allowed
+20% kid/ass SNA (subject to player approval). 1 nation taken.

Grudge Games we need opposition for:
2950: None
1000: 1 team of 9-12 player team (any alignment - most formats accepted)
David Ruzic, 1 team Brian
1650: 1 World Championship team, 1 team Brian
WoTR: None
Last Alliance: None

I have drop-outs available - don't forget you get a free turn for taking
these up...
E [Early] = 0-10 turn, M (Midgame]= 11-20, L [Late game] = 21+
1000: Two
2950: None
1650: NoMen (m,l), Cardolan (m), NorGo (l), SouGo (l), Quiet (m), Dun (m)

5/12 Christmas: Don't forget the Christmas game on the 28/29th is on in
Cardiff - get in touch very soon if you want to get a place 16 players and 4
GMs will be there. For Christmas we will not be running games from 24-28th
but will be running games on 31st and 1st as per normal. (All games will be
delayed a week to alllow for this.) Post at this time of year goes very
slow so please allow extra time for delivery.

2/12 Thanks to those who sent to Flagship and sang our praises and for
those that voted. This year we wanted to see what would happen without any
encouragement from us concerning the best game. Guess what? We won the
Best Fantasy Wargame for the 2nd year running:

Rating out of 10 - 43 voted (some from previous years)
Anticipation: 8.29, GM: 8.39, Depth 7.24, Interaction 7.70, Value 6.90

Particularly happy with anticipation here - glad to see you're all eager
beavers! (I know what it's like Game 77 is particularly bad that way we
have to leave it print off our Office turns until all the work has been done
as as soon as one of us reads his turn it's work stop!) GM is my 2nd fav -
considering that I feel for the good of the game we have to be very strict
in some parts [against out 'better' nature I might add - we're more lenient
in other games we run] the fact that you think we run a good GMed game is
excellent - makes us very proud! Check out the newbie article - we'll get
it into Bree sometime soon.

For interest other game we or Harlequin run:
Legends: Anticipation: 7.08, GM: 8.56, Depth: 8.45, Interaction: 7.50,
Value: 6.88 Votes:31
Serim Ral: Anticipation: 7.57, GM: 8.00, Depth: 7.00, Interaction: 5.86,
Value: 8.14 Votes:4
Crack of Doom II: Anticipation: 7.14, GM: 8.22, Depth: 6.97, Interaction:
5.44, Value: 6.78 Votes:6

(ME and Leg came in 2nd and 3rd most voted for games as well)

13/12 [Player report] Game 26 2950 - Congrats to the guys in Black once
again!

The FP came out of the box right from the start. White Wizard made serious
advances on the Dunlendings forcing him into the mountains. The FP flipped
the LR capital with the usual big name brands.

Hats off to them. Initially we were scrambling in the face a highly
organised FP team. Hats go to the Cloud Lord who always seemed to be in the
right place at the right time. He really hated pointed ears and he has a
collection of them. FP lost big Silvan and Noldo guys and Sinda had some
hurts.

DS made a serious push into the markets and ran them the whole time. Lost
Dunlendings somewhere along the road but he was a new guy in one of the
toughest positions to be in. DS ended up swimming in gold (outside the usual
Witch King) including the Dragon Lord to everyone's surprise.

And here's all my memories (and of myself, the DL, how probably others will
remember me!):

WK stuck it out though he had a -20K deficit for most of the game though
running amok with a goodly amount of troops. To him goes the "Gimme gold
please!" award. DL always seemed to have bad luck when it came to hiring an
army and was the butt of the team jokes for having too many do-nothing
mages. To him goes the "Damn... forgot to hire another army!" award.

DO will be remembered for the names of his camps! Lots of troops all bogged
on the road to Orthanc. To him goes the "Love those camp names!" award. CL
always was in the correct place. I bet the FP had a real hate to see their
turns and who died on the knife. To him goes the "DK, Celedbring has ears so
I'm tempted!" award.

BS will be known as the Blind Babe. She withstood all our adolescent
comments (esp. Mine!) with ladylike charm. To her goes the "boys will be
boys!" award. IK will be known for rounding up all the orcs in Mordor and
sending them to Osgiliath time and time again. To him goes the "We"ll get it
this turn!" award.

FK will be known for his Ozzie leanings. Feel like I've been there with all
the Ozzie Innuendo. To him goes the "Fire is cool, Oz is coolest!" award.
QA will be known for the only guy to have his Naz captured and freed. He
wanted to help the Duns but to him goes the "Wow... those mountains are
tall!" award.

LR will be known for actually having less troops than the CL at one point.
He lost his capital REAL early and we never bothered to get it back for him
for some time. To him goes the "Rebuilding, name of the game!" award. CO
will be known as the happiest guy on the team... right after he spotted SG
had belly-upped. To him goes the "How's this SG!!" award.

DU will be known as having the most unenviable position. We tried to keep
him on but sadly lost his last MT without a backup in range. To him goes the
"Trial by fire is fun!" and BEST SPORT award.

I do have to say we are looking for a new grudge game. We are a tough
team...

DL #26 signing off... and one last heckle to the WW and KE...for letting
Khamul challenge him in DG... and win with hardly any wounds and KE for
suppling many emisses to challenge though I did lose some guys in DG when
you all came a-callin.

Thanks

Clint

I sent in a set-up for 4th age a while ago, was hoping
I was in the last game that filled up. Is that 1

Hello Clint,

Good luck in Cardiff. I am a returning player who has been
floating a few emails your way regarding new games. I would
like to get in on Game 227 filling up. Am I right to assume I can
play two nations of the same allegiance? Like the Noldor and
Northern Gondor?

I guess the most important thing is to get started ASAP in a 2950
or FA all-email game. Thanks for your help.

Nick
