FS 20/8

1650: 1 teams 12 player team (looking for FP opposition). 1 World
Championship games, 1 10 player team - some newbies, 1 2x6 player team

With regards to the World Championship Games, I'm of an understanding
that if the active nations on one side outnumbers the other side by more
than 1/2, than that side is declared the winners.

In ME58, the Freep (Oz Team) has it's full 12 players still active while
the game results shows that the following DS are "deceased" :-

WiK
DrL
IcK
QAv
FiK
Har
Rhu

That makes only 5 players still active on the DS team (BOTR).

12 to 5 is more than 1/2, me lousy maths sez, so what sez the GM ?

b.e.
Arthy who has the WiK K.O'ed in 10 turns more or less and is getting
stupendously bored the last 7 or 8 turns and wants to play something
else.

That's correct game 58 has ended - did a message not get sent out? The DS
had it. My apologies if this was missed out - Aussies have won this game.

It's a shame that the UK2 team did not give it earlier but that's their
choice.

First of all we are not the UK2 team we are a BOTR team.

Secondly games dont just end when you are outnumbered by the opposition
by 2 to 1. i.e you could have had say 12 nations with one pop centre and if
we have 6 with around 50 each you are saying that the game would have ended.
Seems very silly to me..

Why should we give in earlier ? We are here primarily to enjoy
ourselves. Not our fault that everyone else seems intent to win and murders
us. If they dont want to be spending money on turns when they dont have do
then they shouldn't play to win..

Clint

As a World champ game this was the rule to start off with. Normal Grudge
games don't have this rule. Most of the team is UK so it's easiest to call
it this. (Note there were complaints about BoTR as well!) Happy with
whatever your team captain decides here.

Yes in your example the rule would not have been implemented. This was not
the case in your situation.

Still you guys started off, intended as the UK2 team that didn't fully work
out.

That's an extremely unlikely case, if you've 6 with 50 pop ctrs and still
couldn't
eliminate one single opponent, then you're really pathetic and deserve to
lose,
especially since as you claimed, your opponent only has 1 pop ctr.

Btw, we have an average of 20 pop ctrs per Freep nation as compared to the
DS nation TOTAL of 20 to 30 pop ctrs ??? Less than 7 pop ctrs per nation
average ? This was a T18 estimate.

Why should we give in earlier ? We are here primarily to enjoy
ourselves. Not our fault that everyone else seems intent to win and

Because it's unevitable, go play a regular 1650 game, this is the WC rules,
it's meant to prevent lengthy bug hunts.

Hey I was wondering how's the "First Alliance" FA scenario doing. I'd
sure like to take a crack at the game and see how it goes. Clint, will
you guys be offering another version of this game scenario?

While I can't divulge alot of information for obvious reasons, I can
tell you that fighting has been brutal sofar, tens of thousands of
troops lies dead, whole towns have been razed and looted in the fierce
fighting which has reigned from the start.

Personally I am having a terrific blast with this game. One of the
good things is that the artifact list got shuffled, so that noone
knows the artifact # of the big important items, and there wasn't a
turn 2 rush to get everything.

I for one will gladly join a new Last Alliance game once this one
ends, and play on the other side to experience it as well.

Cudos to Clint and Richard to putting this scenario together

RD: if you mean 'Last Alliance' game 44, yes, it goes well. The DS have
done lots of damage to the South Kingdom and in the East, but the FP armies
have fought their way through to Morannon and stormed it on the way to
Barad-dur.

The only complaints/suggestions I have received are that South Kingdom and
Dorwinion (FP nation based in Rhun area) should be strengthened. I don't
agree about SK which starts as one of the most powerful nations. There may
be a case for Dorwinion, but I think that overall the balance is pretty
good, so if I were to make such a change, it would be at the expense of one
of the other FP nations.

Constructive comments and suggestions are always welcome. I'd especially
like to hear some feedback from the DS.

Richard.

You will not be so flippant when Gil-Galad bounces

too late!

Seriously, this has been a great game from turn one.
Excellent setup...

Not under that name - as per usual we'll run one game and check out the
flaws and try to correct them for next time around. It's called Last
Alliance btw.

Richard, the scenario is excellent thusfar, well done.
As FK, I find it well balanced. As for SK, the FP
chose to run to Morannon and not defend SK as strongly
as they could, which may or may not be the right
decision (only time will tell). I would say it is way
too early to properly evaluate anything.

Yes I cannot see that we would increase the SK at all - already the equal
most powerful nation in the game it would turn into another W Wizard. If we
can improve the other nations instead that would be good. General
preference in this situation is to upgrade a weaker nation if we can. I
guess when the game ends we can talk about this in depth.
