27/3 105 Player report:
All hail the Dark Servants of Game 105. Finally, the Free Peoples have come
to their senses and given up. We'd all begun to wonder when it would happen.
In the early days (DGE was alive!) both sides were hampered by an occasional
few of incompetants. The Khand and Corsairs discovered their dark roots and
made serious inroads into the FP lands while the DS better organized
themselves after losing Mirkwood and the North. The White Wizard was never
interested in the Eye from the beginning and the Dunlanders sadly would not
join us.

Sadly, as often is the case, the Free committed hypocracy and went the way
of agentdom. After her husband's death, Galadriel began to drink too much
from her "magic mushroom" fountain and decided to go a-challenging the local
dragons. The Dark were happy for this to get a break from her proclaiming
noisesome drivel. In the meantime, the DS starting making inroads into the
Gondors and Rhun lands. Suddenly the Free made a rush towards Morannon. The
Dog Lord suffered horrific character losses. But he struggled on.

Finally, after several turns of doubt, the Free simply couldn't hold onto
their gains. They managed to sack Barad-Dur but afterwards were sent back
through the remains of the North Gate. Afterwards, further and further were
the Free pushed out of their lands though still holding Mirkwood while all
other areas were lost of varying significant degrees.

Hitting upon a desperate avenue, the Free began the wild goose hunt for the
One Ring. Picking it up and dropping it became a common event for them. No
one ever thought of superglue. Twice was the ring found and lost on route to
Mt. Doom. The final loss was far too much for the Free to handle and finally
accepted their fate which was all to obvious.

Kudos go to the Southern Gondorian (or -ess we should say). Never gave up
despite being nearly fully occupied by the Dark. Dunlanders put up a good
agent fight until their lands were overrun... the same said for the Woodmen
and Silvan. The Dark wonders what might have happened if the Sinda had been
less busy challenging dragons and other whatnot and more interested in
battling the Dark.

Duran... having become the new Fire King after an accident...

28/3 Game 84 end report (player) Well, Game 84 has ended, with a victory for
the Free Peoples in 14 turns, despite being down 3 neutrals to two. Final
placings were:
Noldo (1567 VPs)
Easterlings (1225 VPs)
Southern Gondor (1125 VPs).

...not that final placings matter one jot. We all like to think we took part
in a "team game", this one certainly was.
The war got off to a dream start in the South, with the Gondors, aided by
the Sinda and Eothraim, bursting into Mordor in a text book offensive. The
major towns they captured, together with the market being crashed, meant
that the Mordor nations were up against it from the very start. Respect to
Per (NG) and Jeppe (SG) for co-ordinating this attack.
In Mirkwood, the Dragon Lord never really threatened, allowing the Sinda to
become really powerful (hey, who am I to complain...Din Ohtar was
assassinated by Tharudan) and the Woodies to take out Mount Gundabad.
Over the other side of the Mountains, an attempt by Rhudaur to convince us
Freeps of his intention to go FP backfired. He attempted to mislead us over
the dispositions of the WK armies...this guy never heard of palantirs?
Rhudaur was crushed in record time by Cardolan and the Dwarves, with the
Duns joining us to deliver the coup de grace. The fall of the WK was then
inevitable.
Only in the east were there problems, where an inexperienced Northmen player
dropped early. His nation was taken over by the Eothraim, who managed to
stabilise the position.
Meanwhile, back down south, the pressure exerted by the Gondors bankrupted
one or two Mordor nations, most notably the FK.
Feeling that a walkover might be on the cards, the Corsairs and Harad joined
the forces of darkness. This persuaded the Easterlings to join us, again in
the interest of game balance.
One by one the Mordor nations were defeated, until the QAv, Corsairs and
Harad gracefully conceded.
An enjoyable game overall, and I haven't even mentioned the magnificent
performance of Arthedain!!!
