UK Gencon: Clint, Ed and Sam will be at Reading, UK Gencon 29th-31st August later this month. We’re there for fun, but should you be interested then get in touch or just turn up and we can have a chat/game…
FTF (Face to Face): a couple of players have asked about this and we’re wondering if there’s a desire for another w/end of intense Middle-earth gaming in Cardiff. If you’re interested then get in touch, the w/end is fixed cost and lots of fun.
Saw you in the distance with Sam plus another (which I’ll guess was Ed)… too far away for you to hear me call… you were heading off to one of the buildings at the time…
Phew you’re thinking… that was close
I was only there for Friday, but it seemed OK… didn’t feel very full… the trade hall was a bit small… is it me… or are most Trade stands now dominated by Magic card sellers? Also not a fan of having loads of buildings spread about… doesn’t make for a buzz
Yeh we had a great time, played a lot of different games and time-flew by. Got to catch up on some sleep now… Learnt “Brass” and “Agricola” - would recommend “Agricola” to players if they have 2-3 hours to play and “Race for the Galaxy” for a 3/4hr game. Brass is a decent game but there’s a lot of down-time which I think for a modern game is bad.
Ran into a few old friends which was cool, chatted with Gavin and Ian as well from ME.
It would good to meet Clint, Sam and Ed, though due to the necessity to have to get back to the wife before she realised that I wasn’t at work after all, I didn’t get to play any games with them.
Played Al Abrama (which is a little too random for my tastes) and Agricola (which is very good but has quite a steep learning curve to play well). Bought Race for the Galaxy and hope to play it this weekend.
I have Brass at home as well and think that it is very good also but certainly isn’t a light game. We didn’t find the downtime too much, just learning all the rules a bit problematic (we got a couple of things wrong first time around).
Still it was great to meet the ME guys - I just hope I can get a weekend pass next year.
