FTF - Face to Face game in Cardiff; and other bits from the Front Sheet

FTF w/end. We're planning on a UK FTF (Face to Face Middle Earth game)
event in April/May/June (date to be arranged). If you are potentially
interested in this then get in touch. We've got some Danes, Germans turning
up this time around so it would be great to get a full complement of 22
players (for a 12v12 1650 game). We usually add a few extra set-up rules
for fun (2 characters with +10 stat), and will be potentially playing with
the concept of Objectives to control within the game as well. Late August
we hope to do one in Copenhagen as well.

We usually run around 16 turns (Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon) and
there's a great atmosphere for all the players.

We're looking for a Programmer to help complete our conversion of the Mac
program to PC. We've done the Initialise (ie set-up new games), Process is
halfway done (4wks eta roughly) and that leaves around 80-100 hours work on
the Print routine. Anyone interested in this get in touch...

New Bree format: Okay Bree will now be on-line and as a PDF format sent out
as normal.

http;//bree.flagshipmagazine.com/index.php

and feedback to me. You'll be able to publish articles direct, search
through for items of interest and much, much more. New Bree to come out
soon - apologies for the delay.

Clint

Clint, are you guys ever going to try a US FTF again? I know one went
down in flames a few years ago, but I think it'd be great if one ever
could get off the ground.

If you'd be kind enough to shrink the US a little I think it might get off the ground. I've tried 3x to get something sorted but basically gettin 22/24 people all in one place in the States seems to be a non-starter. I would LOVE to do it though. The Danes pulled 22 players together (from all over Europe) so it's doable but needs a lot of work to get sorted.

A couple of thoughts. You might either try one of the major
metropolitan areas, or one of the major college campuses. University
of Illinois is centrally located out in a corn field :sunglasses:

Last time the idea of a US face-to-face came up, just
about everything was tried.... Problem was, there
were 3 people that wanted it in so-Cal, 2 in New York,
4 in Minnesota, 2 in Colorado, 3 in Georgia......

I ask you.... If this were held in Arizona, SoCal, or
Vegas (Areas I could get to and home from in 10-12
total drive time and under $100 gas round trip), would
you be willing to drop $300-$400 plus the extra travel
time, to fly out west to play? Most wouldn't.... That
has been the deal breaker. Can't get 15-20 players
all within reasonable travel time/distance/cost of
each other.

Happy to try again if there's some commitment out there from you guys to the concept. Okay let's start the ball rolling.

1) Who'd like to do a FTF in the States?
2) Which locations would you be happy to play in (ie travel to). Cities fine.

I've moved a few times since the last try, but I'm still up for a go.

For cities, I prefer Los Angeles, San Diego or San Fran. Other good picks for me are Chicago and DC. New York is a possibility.

I'd be willing to try an FTF in Los Angeles.

You may also want to consider Las Vegas as it has cheap flights
from all over the country.

Again I would be up to doing a face to face. I live in Denver Colordo, so western united states locations preferrable.

Why don't people who would be willing to do a face to face say yes and what city you are in, then we can try and find a decent central location.

We have done. :frowning:

Happy to try again if there's some commitment out there from you guys to
the concept. Okay let's start the ball rolling.

1) Who'd like to do a FTF in the States?
2) Which locations would you be happy to play in (ie travel to). Cities fine.

Why don't people who would be willing to do a face to face say yes and what city you are in, then we can try and find a decent central location.

Yes numbers would be good to know. Location can be sorted at some other time. If you can chat to friends and allies in the game that would be very useful.

Ideally we need a free location to run the game in (3 rooms; 1 for FP, 1 for DS and one for GMs and some data entry). Kipping space would be great as well. (If it's got a bed then even better!)

Cheap flights are certainly a consideration here.

Kipping: verb. To Kip. A term derived from the movies where actors
and actresses would kiss but not enjoy it, but (and here's the
important point) they had to PRETEND they liked it...

Actually, I think it means basically a place to stay.
