FTF X over

FTF X finished with a bang - well the DS had lost a few nations by then, the FP the NM. The DS kindly conceded to the FP late Sunday morning after 3 days of intense gaming fun. Congrats to the FP on their win, commiserations to the DS.

It was a very strategic (with the best play in a FTF seen I think) game with much tooing and froing - no side gaining any real advantage for 95% of the game. The DS advantage with Agents was well played and they managed to halt pretty much most assaults into Mordor and Mirkwood. Slowly the game turned in the favour of the FP due to the constant pressure and the DS slowly lost nations. A well co-ordinated attack on the NM caused mayhem enough for a FP casualty on around turn 12. Many a character was lost with only Hallas of the Cardolan the only leader to survive the carnage.

Over all an excellent game, we played some boardgames afterwards (thanks Mike) and aim to have our next event sometime in the mid-Sept - mid-Nov period so if you’re interested get in touch nearer the event.

End game map - game ended on t14.

“FTF X”, I thought only World Wars and Superbowls got Roman numerals.

Well it is the 10th such event…

This was my third FTF - it’s a great laugh, and I’d encourage anyone to try it. It’s like an MEPBM boot camp with Clint as the Drill Sergeant! Only kidding… I think! Nah, every time I play I learn things and I know my overall game gets upped. It’s a hugely social event - there’s nothing like gloating in person as another Nazgul or Fat Elf (Elrond!!! :p) bites the dust!

I played the NM and Eo this time - my first dead nation (NM)! But I take some small satisfaction in holding on to Shrel Kain before I got bankrupt. That and maintaining 3k+ HC in the field  The Eo was also a lot less tough that I thought it would be (not a patch on the Gondors) but I guess that’s because the NM took the brunt of the Dog/LR/DkLts forces.

It was also my first FTF without Kev as a teammate - I have to say I found it most disconcerting not to hear “we’re doomed!!” every 3 seconds! :stuck_out_tongue:
