Fw: New Orders?

Please remind me, what is the address for your wish-list of order changes?

If you want to comment or suggest changes to my Fantasy 2nd Edition, it's
just me laurence@lgtilley.freeserve.co.uk I owe 1,000,000 apologies
though to Mike Barber, who sent me a full commentary on it which included
one or two ideas I wanted to adopt. I put the e-mail to one side then lost
it in a major crash. So sorry Mike,... do you have a copy by any chance?

And reading the last para from Clint (below), would you take on the task
of collating suggestions from other players?

No. Here's why:

The original 2nd edition debate on this list eventually became annoying due
to the contribution of sneerers, wreckers and lazy readers. There was a
constant trickle of people who kept coming in without having read the
previous debate, so thought they were doing us a favour to tell us:
- a 2nd edition wasn't going to happen
- we were trying to make the game "realistic"
- we were trying to make the game more complicated
- motor cycling orcs with chainsaws and psionic powers would be cool
- we were boring

I got utterly sick of having to repeat the same arguments (with the help of
a small core of constructive individuals who _had_ read it all) for people
who were just popping in to proclaim their knowledge.

Of the constructive ideas, many were contradictory, or introduced conflicts
with other aspects of the game mechanism which needed resolution. The
only way to come up with something coherent was to filter all the ideas
though a single decision maker - and in the absence of any interest from
GSI or Mebpm games, it has to be a player - and the only one I've got is
me! Hence my 2nd Ed page is (and is clearly presented as), my personal
pick of all the ideas which were submitted, with some tweaks to make it fit
together.

There were of course an awful lot of ideas which I rejected. Some were
interesting, but some were truly terrible - not just in concept, but in
explanation. I certainly don't have the energy to archive all of those.

If anybody wants to make constructive comment on my 2nd Ed page, I''d love
to hear it - but of course, as it is a personal selection, your suggestion
only gets in if you can persuade me that it would improve the game and can
resolve any conflicts with existing ideas there.

If anybody wants to write their own alternative 2nd Edition, provided I
think it's half decent, I'll gladly provide a link to it, or host it if the
author does not have his own web site.

Will have a look-see. Cant promise I'll do come up with anything
earth shattering but I'll look nonetheless. Thanks for the help with
the mapping. Managing now. The char n army bit also helps. You should
try and track these too if you have time. The summary is helpful from
turn to turn if you can get it done in time. How about asking the
members of the teams you are in to format an email for you to cut and
paste the data they know.

Ha! It takes me months into any new game to get them to do that just for the pop data. To get them to co-operate enough to supply character and army data in standard format.... Well, you just don't know the lazy b******s I play with

*** We're interested but I don't think we can get it working at present. With efforts for the company going elsewhere, and needing to have the rights to the game to actually implement the changes at present I see this as a mind experiment - useful in it's own right (feedback it always useful) but not implementable over the next 6 months.
