G 67 Veta Schola VS Team Brauch

Hallo zusammen,

ich wollte mal schauen, ob sich hier jemand von unseren gegnern rumtreibt. um aber die nicht deutschkundige mehrheit hier nicht weiter zu verwirren, I will continue in english

It seems to us that it doesn’t look rosy for the DS. It is turn 6 and 3221,3122,3224, 2135, 2730, 2715, 2409 have fallen to the forces of light and 1804, 1910, 3426, 3423 are about to fall this turn.

In return, the DS have taken 3109, 3612, 2711 and 1817 (kudos for this nice but ineffective maneuver).

Are you still confident that you can put up serious opposition under such circumstances? If not, we politely ask you to consider conceding this game.

Regards,

Bernd for Team Veta Schola

Silence is golden.

I’m just dyin’ to know what the heck he wrote in German. <g>

@ Drew - I wrote that my personal intelligence told me that our opponents are not a threat to us already four weeks ago. But I decided not to tell my teammates sooner since I know that you US-folks prefer to be lied to and be kept in a climate of fear

I am always surprised that more Europeans, particularly Germans, don’t appreciate America taking the lead on the world stage in opposing, and where feasible, replacing, murderous totalitarian governments which threaten Western interests.

Sixty-six years ago today, the day that will live in infamy, American isolationism was sunk in the shallow waters of Pearl Harbor, Hawai’i. History, not contemporaneous political opposition, will be the final judge of both FDR’s and W’s handling of prewar intelligence.

The issue is in the definition of “Western interests”…

yup. just ask the question “cui bono” and you end up with halliburton, lockheed martin et al. definitely not the majority of the US population which has to bear with thousands of dead, mutilated and traumatized citizens…

but this is not the place for political discussion, I apologize for not resisting my urge to deliver that jab…

back to topic: nobody here of the german team?

Bernd, Bernd… you shouldn’t have translated it… <grin> I tried babblefish and all I got was babble… then my power died due to a storm and I forgot about it… then I logged on tonight after looking at 70 and I find this… whooaaaaa.

Drew - history will indeed make a judgment on W. I differ with you in my prediction as to what it will be. But hey! At least we can be teammates in ME and have loads of fun even if we don’t agree about US politics.

the reason might be, that it was just, er, babble

the reason might be, that it was just, er, babble :D[/QUOTE]

Hmmm, I guess that was just babble after all. I ran the German text thru a translator I found on the net and it came back:

“I wanted to look sometimes, whether to get tangled here somebody of ours gegnern rumtreibt. around, however, not German expert mehrheit here not further”

Let’s get back on the same page here.

Nevermind the military success, this was as fun as anything in the game so far:

I thought Dave was just making a reference to sticking a babel fish in his ear a la Douglas Adams, not realizing there are several brand-name internet translators with similar names as “Babblefish” etc.

The Yahoo Babel Fish translator did better than the generic one I tried first:

“I wanted to look times whether someone from our opponents rumtreibt itself here. in order to confuse however the not German-well-informed majority here not further”

not bad at all. replace “rumtreibt itself” with “stick around” and you almost got it right. I think you have to do with that if you are “not-german-well-informed”

Yes, this isn’t the place for current political discussion. But the game does contain room for the psychology of leadership and the psychology of war. Little wonder professional researchers have made use of it.

Examples:
Group: Send your opposition mixed messages and they will (usually) select the ‘right’ one. Groups being less random than individuals.

Individuals: The wise amongst us recognize and learn from our mistakes. Since many of us are not wise, ego protection is first priority. If you see an opponent make an obvious, stupid mistake try mocking him. The unwise will rationalize his actions and repeat the mistake—over and over (sometimes).

Well, Grudge 67 has been interesting Ed because our opposition has done a number of “interesting” things. But the net result is they have lost far more MT/capitals than the DS can afford as of Turn6 (see results posted above).

As to your points on individuals and groups, I often find that I give my opponent far too much credit and plan as if (s)he will do something very smart, only to find out that I could/should have predicted a more mundane and pedestrian response. I don’t mean Grudge 67 with this comment, but rather refer to any number of GB games where the Individual play of players is not disguised by the advice of the group.

Dave

Dear opposition (Grudge 67 DS),

I’d like to respectfully ask you to concede. It’s turn 7.
The tally of lost DS MT/Capitals is:

2730 (HA)
3224 (FK)
3426 (FK)
3122 (IK)
3423 (DkL)
3221 (DogL)
2715 (DragL)
2409 (DragL)
1910 (Rhu)
1804 (WK)

FP have lost three: 3612 (destroyed), 2711 (regained), 1817 (regained)

It’s winter… I could go on, but it’s pretty much game over. Thus, the respectful request to end this so we can all start a new game.

thanks,
Dave

Not that it changes the bottom line of what you say any, but we’ve also captured 2135, and had 3109 destroyed. Add to what you’ve listed above that we are taking the new IK capital in Near Harad this turn and burning the first CL town in the Mordor heartland, what you’ll find is a completely untenable DS situation in the first weeks of winter. Stick a fork in 'em, they’re done.

Let it be known that the DS team has conceded this game on T 11.

Kudos to our enemies for some nice moves and the gracious, though late, concession.

Congrats and thanks to my teammates for yet another excellent game. That is 3 : 0 for Veta Schola now, on to the next!
