For now the fight to liberate Middle -Earth from the vile Elven conspiracy is over. Our Lord Sauron has deemed it better for us to fade away into the east, to one day return, rather than fight on to the last.
So we temporarily surrender our heartlands of Mordor to the Elves lapdogs, both old and new. But, know that we shall not forget those who stood against us, those who betrayed us and the dream that is Sauron, we will remember and have our revenge. Do not doubt us when i say that the banner of the Lidless Eye will rise again.
The Nine still ride free, the Ring is unfound and our Orc hordes are eaily replenished, look always to the east for a new Hope for those enslaved by the lady of the forest and her minions will rise again!
Congrats to the Free on a blowout. I’m not surprised at losing (again), but I am surprised at losing this quickly. Between winter economies with impending bankruptures and facing 15, er, 14 nations ( fp and all newts (spit)) with 2 of our guys down already (one thanks to mistake in natsells, the other thanks to Ben taking the QA capital)… it just isn’t worth the money in the long run for any involved.
The early smashing of Morgul will stay with me for a while. That was awesome! This game had some potential but the neutral spread pretty much sinks it. I’m not trying to “whine” about it. Just stating the facts. I’m sticking with pre-aligned for a while so I’ll have nothing to blame my losses on but my own “suckiness”.
Thanks for the compliment on the MM blowout… That was a bit of an adaptation of an attack used on us in a previous game. I have to admit, it went off as planned, though there was one turn that had us VERY nervous… The whole plan almost came crashing down. We’ll leave you to try and figure out what could have been done different.
I must admit, your agents really crippled us. We thought we would have burned the FK capital a few turns ago… Even with multiple subcommanders.
Oh well, now its time to look for a new game. I for one did enjoy this one.
Even without the Neutrals, the Ithil Pass and the NM/DW area were very strong. The squeezing of Mordor might have been inevitable.
Osgiliath never received a single dent in its walls.
I think the awesome DS counter-assault in Mirkwood gave them much more than they could hold. Perhaps spreading them thin? Regardless, it did mucho damage.
And those damn assassins! sheesh! My only plan was to have 3 times as many targets as there were DS assassins. (that, and keep doubling them).
Good game to you Fp types. I had hoped my Eastern Army would have done a bit more damage out there, but you guys tied me up nicely. But Din took it out on Elrond, so that was ok. I did learn that you cant trasnfer artis to NPC’s! I had intended to give the Mantle to Sauron, just becasue it would have been funny!<S>
We would have gotten away with it to, if it wasnt for you pesky kids and your dog!
Congrats to the FP - well played. We were in trouble from the beginning. I’m still resentful about the Neutrals but that takes nothing away from your fine performance. I hope to meet you again on the field of battle someday.
Yes, indeed, congratulations and no hard feelings! The attack on Morgul got us on the back foot from the off, the WK escaoed only with the donation of a couple of gold producing camps from the QA and CL before he could regroup in the north. Was dumbfounded that you took Morgul; never, ever believe those pesky combat calculators, especially when my battle mages were caught with their pants down and lost all their artifacts [but subsequently recovered]. The Ungol defence was going well, were still waiting for the Corsairs navy to appear, but the backdoor bandits[!] were the final straw really...well that and imminent bankruptcy with no rich neutrals to bail us out! We were pleased with our agent activity, helped by getting MOST of the agent arties [though does anyone know how to get the ROW at erebor? weve tried several responses to SMAUG with no luck, so no ROW encounter and no pick-up…
Was looking forward to over-running a coupla pesky elf armies [2509?] this turn as Murazor would have 4200 troops at Maethelburg heading for Goblin Gate next turn. Was also looking forward to sending Murmur on more happy trails. But it was not to be…
Look out for the final The Lidless Eye, coming your way soon!
Kind of curious as to who made up the freep team that managed to narrowly defeat the valiant forces of darkness
For the record the Ds team was:
WK & IK - DAVID MURRAY
DragL & CL - ALAN GOURLAY
DogL - TIM KENNEDY
BS & QA - JAMES ASPINALL
FK - MILES FAGRIE
LR - FLETCHER BROWN
DLts - RUSSELL FLOYD
NG- Brian Martin
SG- Ben Cook
RR- Clif Weatherford
NM- Kyle Ford
WM- Matt Lincon
Sinda- Brian Oleary
Noldo- Adrian Beattie
Rangers- Jeff Doberphul
Dwarfs- Kyle Caruthers
Sylvan- Matt Ashley
Enjoyed it… And we are looking for a 10v10 game again, with us as the DS.
I wonder why all the Riders characters who started with E seemed to bite it. It got quite amusing from our end. Probably more annoying on your end, but it seems once we killed one, another popped up to be killed as well. Sometimes its the little things!
