Just had an email from ME Games saying that the Free have conceded.
I wanted to say that I really enjoyed this game - with its pendulous highs and lows. For what it’s worth (and not by way of gloating - well, maybe a little) I think we had the Free after we reclaimed Mordor.
It’s great that the game lasted this long - too many seem to be the quick fix of 12 turns! It would be great to hear other perspectives of the game.
Also, thanks for all those of the DS who were part of the original team who were eliminated or had to leave the game - your contributions were highly valued.
I’d like to congratulate our opponents for a long and well-played game. I was convinced many times that we were on the ropes and about to lose; their emissary offensive in Mordor was nastily effective.
Losing the Dragon Lord and Cloud Lord made life very difficult for the DS, but we managed to bribe most of their characters.
I’d also like to commend our Witch King players for massive dragon recruiting and keeping a presence in the North all through the game.
And, finally, I’d like to congratulate John for his truly amazing and detailed spreadsheets on enemy characters, which let us pull off last turn’s ambush of a couple of major FP agent/emmy groups.
Congrats to the DS really enjoyed this one …even most of the time when we were losing.
We thought we had you after about ten turns but you just kept with it and turn by turn reeled us in.
I fondly remember the turn when I lost 7 characters and in the end your agent and mage dominance told.
We would have liked to have got one of more of you out (DrkL) before throwing in the towel but we thought you had superiority in most aspects of the game so fairs fair.
Congrads to everyone on both sides for sticking out the game. At different points in the game we had DS nations close to getting knocked out but worked to pull them back in. After the Goods great move to take out CL (unexpected) we stepped up tracking of your characters. We knew about most major characters of yours every turn. This turn alone we knew where 50 characters of yours are and another 15 suspected in companies. All in all this made for a very fun game that went through Turn 41.
I would really like to trade Turn 41’s xml/pdfs to see what you guys where up
to and stuff.
Anyone interested in FP t41 info can send me their email addresses and I will give them access to our yahoo site as long as none of my team mates have an issue with this (cant imagine they would).
I will say that one of the key elements of our victory was massive doubling – we counter-doubled most of our own agents as a precautionary measure, and doubled your characters at every opportunity. That gave us a lot of info about who was where, and who was moving with whom, and which characters were company commanders, which let us set up the ambush at 3423 and grab the Ring of Wind by stranding one company at the Harad capital.
(Which had a loyalty of 9, by the way – I’m still amazed at how many times you tried to assassinate Carlon and failed. I guess being a high-ranking C/A in army command must be good for something, even if capital loyalty is low.)
