Game 10 - 1 on 1

Frank is James, James is Frank, both are Orcs, and both look funny when wet.

On a lighter side, James, are you coming around southeast with that WK army at 2004? Inquiring minds would like to know.

You might be unlucky with the threatens, but damn are you lucky with the 40pt CL kidnappers. Shoot, they are just barely in the hard range and they’re kidnapping away like they’re 160 pt agents. One of these days their luck will run out.

More later,

Scott

Lol - shall we say that luck is stacked in the CL assassins’ favour? Just wait till Din finally gets up north (hopefully avoiding encounters…) - then we can have some fun!

Durkarian’s army at Zarak Dum: to be honest I’m in many minds. I had hoped to send it to Mirkwood to play, but given that you’re about to take Carn Dum perhaps it’s prudent to try and stop you! I still have most of the cav, so it could work. But that would be defence. I don’t do defence! Or at least, I only do it with agents

Don’t matter, Durkarian is too late, Carn Dum is toast no matter what you do, but maybe it could delay the fall of Mt Gram.

Well, well, my evil orcster, seems to me that the Corsairs and SG can recruit a LOT more than poor old Harad and the QA; especially with Northern Harad almost gone and the QA being eaten up by who? You’ve got it, SG. Bring on your troops, I’m ready. Or not, who will bankrupt who first? Harad has gold, but can the Harad finance ten thousand troops armies and support the WK, Rhudaur and others?

The Free

Lol - who says that Harad needs to be able to fund the WK/Rhu? Dragons start arriving next turn  Things are already starting to look healthy up there, at least they will once the DrgLd gets out of his slight homelessness predicment!

You’re right: SG will help Cor smash Harad and QA… at the expense of NG? A trade off I’m more than willing to make! Besides which, the EoPlex is in real danger. Where are the horsies gonna recruit from when that falls?

Sorry, I must be looking at a different map, I don’t see the NW looking good for you, or Greenwood. NG is in a pinch, but not terrible as I still own 3124 and 3024. Your going to need a TON of dragons fast to save anything north or south of Mordor. You need some Palentirs, the troop balance is NOT balanced, I have way more (and Mom always liked me best).

I wouldn’t say the NW is looking good… just healthy compared to what I was expecting! And of course you have more troops: you the Freeps! I have more agents and prefer it that way

And Mirkwood looks even worse than the NW lol - but I’ll manage (somehow!)

The south is far more of a concern than the NW - where at least I have 2 functional nations <sighs>.

What do you mean NG isn’t terrible? You’re about to get trounced and I’ll still have enough troops left over to take 3124 and 3024! And that’s without dragons! Meanwhile you’re letting DogLord run amock on the plains, with practically no opposition! (too! many! exclamtion! marks! lol)

And your moma may have loved you best; mine is Shelob. You don’t even want to know how she shows her affection! <shudders>

Wait a minute:eek:

You mean we don’t have the same Mama?:frowning:

I thought that you were the long lost brother that ran away to join an orc freak show.

Lost now without a “Bro”

All kidding aside, the anticipation for the next turn to arrive is a killer.

Scott

<wheeze> I am your father, Luke <wheeze>

Lol - very true, but then on the other hand you do get value for money: you gets your turns and makes your plans. Then wait 3 weeks, ‘review’ them before the deadline: it’s like a whole other game! You have to ‘rethink’ your plans (the nearest I get to rememberering…).

This format would be so cool if you could do it on a 3 day turn around

As an aside, how long does it generally take you to do your turns? It’s been taking me a solid 3 hours to review the turn reports, then typically about 4 hours to write the orders, check them, etc. Do you think there’s a difference for the FP to DS? Eg you guys are far more spread out and less co-ordinated in terms of military and economy, but then in a few turns I’ll have 11 assassination-capable agents, which will complicate things somewhat!

It takes me about the same, 2 to 3 hours to read and review; about 4 to 5 hours to write orders and check them. Have been spreading it out, to keep things fresher in my mind.

Don’t know about a 3 day turnaround, but I would definately do a one week turnaround if the price was right. As it is, it’s far to pricey to even think about a one weeker.

You know what they say about the best layed plans of mice and men…

:eek: :eek: EEK:eek: :eek: ;

  WE WERE ALMOST ON THE SECOND PAGE:eek:

James,

Excellent move by Drurgandra and the LR cav. I must applaud a great move when I see it.

I hate it, but it was good.

Scott

James,

By the way, you lied to me about the BS army, nasty orcses, me hates them.

Cheers! It just took ages to get them from Rhun. I had to send the QA to attack to make sure you avoided the road and didn’t bump into them after their long trek. To be honest, I’m now much more confident about the south given that Harad has finally marched  Even though most of north Harad is toast :frowning:

 I guess I did! But I did very nearly disband it, so it was only half a lie! And it’s not as though Nazgul are reknowned for their honour! Mind you, my economies are really hurting right now as a result…

This games gets more interesting every turn:

Angmar:
Well, Carn Dum will definitely fall this turn, as will Fennas Drunnin. On the plus side Arth will lose 2 towns this turn and finally I can start to hunt for dragons! I have to say, I knew things would be tough up north but I never even imagined they could be this bad! The pressure you’re putting on WK/Rhu is unbelieveable - I’m genuinely impressed, in a ‘wish it wasn’t happenning to me’ kinda way!

Mirkwood:
One infothr and Elrond gets Sarn Goriwing! Even with the town that Duran (finally!!!) threatened, which I’m losing this turn, DrgLd still only has 3 pops

Rhun:
BS army will burn Dilgul this turn, one Eo MT gone with more Dog troops in the field. NG will lose Calmirie this turn. On the other hand the Eo cav machine is at Thuringwathost and Gothmog’s army ain’t exactly up to the challenge!

Ithil:
Only 900 troops between me and Osgiliath - which should fall soon. Thousands of HI just waiting for action, seems pretty safe to me.

Harad:
Real interesting. SG and SE are taking apart north Harad, whilst the other side of the river is constant recruitment and the first wave of troops moving out. The LR cav has marched all the way to Rhun and will burn a Cor MT this turn whilst the QA blocking force has intercepted a Cor army. This is the most interesting part of Middle Earth right now imho!

Arties:
Well, RoW (+45 :D), RoC (+35 :D) are mine, I have the encounters for Tinculin, Elenya, Collohwesta and am locating more each turn. You really have given up on the toys! By the way, did Elrohir get sick? Just a shame it wasn’t Elrond you sent for it!

Actually, I didn’t give up on the “Toys”, it’s just I only had one research arty spell at game start and I’ve been trying to catch up. I was gambling on Elrohir and the ROW, hoping I could challenge and/or steal it. Just wasn’t meant to be. I didn’t know where it was till I got the rumor, I had it at or near 3610. I’m just now getting 428’s.

I really got the worst starting spells that I’ve ever seen. Oh well, just makes it more challenging.

Scott

Lol fair enough, just comradely banter. In the recent FTF where I was Noldo, not a single mage - including Duns and Cor! - had even research, so I know what it’s like. For what it’s worth I “only” started with 2 LAs, but I was able to research and cast LAT turn 1. The rest has just been lucky triangulations of LAs and risking sending emmies to their doom at the hands of spirits!

It would have been a coup if you’d have managed to steal RoW though! Prior to the FTF I massively underestimated the value of stealth. Now I think that 30 stealth is worth more than the +20 K/A (which I guess is why Ji is so powerful). In the FTF Elladan was our killer and did his first assassination with A30 St70 (Sinda stealth arty and bonus) - I never would have tried with those stats before, but now I’m a stealth addict!

The FTF also taught me that arties aren’t worth that much to the DS, agent wise, where they are strong enough already. It’s if Noldo or Sinda can get an agent toy that things start to get interesting!
