this is almost like a funny pavlovian reflex: I drop a line, you unload a ton of redundant info that nobody is interested in or impressed with. do you think you need to convince “the audience” that you are good player(s)? just let things play out, pretty please…
Morm, we’ve been ripped & insulted for most of this thread. Told how badly we’re being beaten, how bad we’ve played and when we dared suggest that we were doing some good things as recently as even last turn we were told we were delusional, already beaten, substandard etc.
Now it’s payback…and I’m enjoying watching you set a new record for how quickly a “healthy nation” can go down the tubes. Hmmmm…since our play is substandard and arthedain was doing great a couple turns ago…I wonder what changed?
Bernd it is psychological warfare, obviously getting under your skin. Just remember every time you want to try and spin how bad you are hurting us in Harad we/I am going to point out to you the indisputable truth of how bad you are getting beaten. Truth hurts does it. Try this one. Gixx posted we were down a nation probably two. Did you have factual proof or was that just wishful thinking? Well we know the truth and know we have not and in fact do not lose nations on this team. We don’t make claims we cannot substantiate, we do know in fact what the loyalties are at the population centers targeted in Cardolan. We know the names of the three commanders Cardolan has in the field, we can count the dead and know the stable is pretty empty for Cardolan. What have you done to help them? We have been amazed at your inactivity in the west just amazed. The one area in which you should have had great success and you have allowed us to dictate what happens. Yet it was you who called our play substandard. No I am going to annoy you guys from now until the end of the game. We have out developed you character wise, we have killed most of the best characters of Arthedain, Cardolan, South Gondor and we are now trying to decide on where to abuse you some more. Your side makes small of the effect of characters lost, we know your character base is inferior to ours. You lost the artifact hunt. You have paid for that over the last 5 or 6 turns. We steal enough gold off you to fund the deficits of several nations so we are at break even, then we manipulate the market every turn and you do nothing. Your side is being taken to school and you know it. So hang in there next turn I will have more to heap onto you. Not Pavlovian I didn’t react to you. I just am calling you out, try to present some facts to support your positions maybe then you won’t be made to look so foolish.
Facts to support positions…??? Geez, you guys are dinosaurs, no? Who ever needs facts to support positions??? And you also write way too long…! We slip with quick, witty hits, catchy sound-bite quality stuff. You boringly drone on and on and on and on detailing your “facts” to “support your positions”…
I’m just trying to get in my licks before you guys drop.
The Rhu player and I had lunch today and we are wondering just how obtuse members of your team had to be…well the iron lord thinks you’ve won the west so the sky’s the limit with that guy.
Thankyou for still talking to us Veo…I’m still up for swapping turns after game if you are. I was going to invade you but there is just too much open space to the west of me…but feel free to visit if you like.
We’ve gotten along quite well in the other threads so after this game ends let’s just all move on. I know your team has not enjoyed the game and the in-fighting has definitely spilled over into this forum.
I intend to go over there for a face to face in the next year or two and I’ll buy anyone that was on your team at the end a beer. Although I may become suspicious if everyone at the face to face turns out to have been on your team.
The DS played a patient game. They successfully survived (much thanks to Sauron destroying 4000 NG HI on an undefended FK capital early on…) our destruction of Morannon and Durthang early. We weren’t able to capably follow up these initial attacks. Our North West offensive was a day late and a dollar short. While currently, the Haradwaith are significantly reduced (1 MT and 2 towns?) from their starting pops, the DS are finally showing their character muscle. Kills and Emissaries actually working together, our inability to make significant inroads at the back of Mordor, etc.
This was a very interesting game from a “pieces on the board” perspective. Other perspectives, not so much. Gixxxer our TC will be making the arrangements via MEGames to officially pronounce this one dead.
Thanks all and have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays (whatever that may be) and an excellent New Year.
I apologize to the DS that we have to concede this game and could not play up to our potential.
To stay in the elevator-metaphor, the story goes like this:
the FP have been storming up the stairs right from the word go, while the DS stood in front of the elevator panel fumbling with the buttons. But alas, on the third floor the FP slipped on the much feared “banana skin of in-team-conflict”, AKA “the clash of egos”. they tried to scramble to their feet, limped on a few steps, but then they heard the elevator rushing past. a sprint would have evened that out, but some of the FP thought their ankle was broken. so, before they even heard the elevator go bing, they called the race off.
Kudos to the DS to stay in a game which must have been an economic tightrope walk for most of the time. I was confident that we were quite close to taking out DrgL, IK and Harad, but I can’t say if that would have been enough to turn the tide. Probably not.
Fact is that the FP have been absolutely no match in the per se lopsided character war, because even the assets we had were underdeveloped.
Note that all this represents just my personal opinion, I took over EO on t 11 and I guess I did not have that much impact, but I was ready to stick to it - at least I would have liked to destroy the IK backup coming turn and see the DrgL lose his capital
Best x-mas and new years wishes to allies and opponents alike, CU on the battlefield.
PS
Brad J: don’t go too much into this “psychological warfare” stuff, that makes you look like a …- no, let’s just say it’s very uncool
Frankly, I think our economics are in a lot better shape than you think. We’ve been doing successful buyouts every turn and a lot of the PC’s we’re picking up help quite a bit.
I HIGHLY doubt you would knock any nation out…unless we made some sort of big mistake.
I was most impressed by your teams early use of combined command artifacts to threaten Gunderbad and Goblin Gate…well done. Arthedain did a nice job start to finish in projecting force…some of the other theaters I paid less attention to so I have no comment.
I think the west was going much worse than your team realizes. Once I get the official decree I can say more on that but suffice to say that I think another 5 turns would see us in control of most things west of the misties
Sauron was indeed a big coup. In the west we had multiple encounters with eagles and Galadriel that cost us but not quite as critically.
