Game 19 New Thread

Well, we’re past turn 22 now. The DS have nothing to the North of Mordor except 4215 - nothing in the North, West, the Misties are clear, etc. We’ve burned Durthang, Morannon, Barad Ungol (rebuilt as an LR Town now~!), Kal Nargil (rebuilt as a Cloud Lord camp) and all the QA starting pops along with stealing Olbamarl and new Cloud Capital Kul Tarkorul (3629).

DS have stolen Pelargir and are trying to suck up Umbar from their off-map built up MT’s in the South.

DS have hunkered down into a OBN supported Agent game, attempting to remove our means to make war (commanders). We’ve played an economic game, giggling if they take a town as we remove 10+ levels of population centres a turn - without those camps producing for them, we’re not that interested in OBN driven inflation - they’ll soon have very little to sell… We’ve seen the market decrease 3 turns in a row now, we expect to erode their ability to subsidize their (quite good actually…) characters to the point where nations will eventually fall off.

They know this is inevitable - they can’t keep up…

One of the good things about this game is that we as the FP have refused to play a react-chase game. We have our plan (albeit, it’s changed 78 times in 22 turns…) and are following it with all nations. The DS have attempted to egg us into conflicts of their choosing - it’s never worked. I imagine they’re somewhat frustrated…

As of right now, the DS have won the South. Nothing’s permanent, but for all those who are convinced that this is the key to victory, well, nothing personal, but you’re full of it…

More in a week or so as we keep slugging it out in this excellent match between the Nomads and Fwank.

Cheers,

Well, it’s been some weeks since our noble opposition has had something to say about this game. I wonder what their excuse will be…because we all know the reason…don’t we…?

Oh, and for the record, Turn 23 just ran, and 3124 is yet still an NG MT. Go figure…

I think you will find that the drop in prices is due to us having to reduce the amount of gold we hold per turn to comply with the request of the GM,s to try and comply with your rather poor gamesmanship in trying to break the rules and apply a limit on gold.

Its nothing to do with how we have played and as a reult rather sticks in our guts that we cannot play the game as agreed at the outset.

Some sides feel the need to cheat to try and win, and apply rules that dont exist. Did you ask for it to be applied, no, did you seek to apply it, yes. Are you great sports? No, some I would describe a scum of the earth in reality and is it a pleasure to play, not at all.

However after the debacle of last go we conceded the game as one has to have faith in the games ability not to throw that kind of spanner in the works.

So enjoy but you know its karma, those who cheat, well it does come about as they say.

We asked the GM’s if you were breaking the OBN rule about 5 turns before I ever mentioned it here on the forum. They said “No” and I said “Thanks.”. That was that.

I never communicated to MEGames about it since then. Any communication between you and the GM’s was because YOU started it - we never got to them and they never got to us.

So, to summarize, we have no idea what you’re talking about and it sounds like you’re sore because you’ve been losing this game since the start and now have no choice but to face that reality. Sore losers. We didn’t expect anything different.

It’s official, we received notice from MEGames that the DS have folded up their tents and shoved off to happier times and milder climes.

This was a most excellent game all around. The FP refused to dance to the DS tune and kept slogging forward. I’m sure they were wondering “What do we have to do to keep these guys off our backs…??” most of the game.

Special thanks to the FP players for sticking through some interesting and difficult periods. Those who rode out the last few turns with rapidly diminishing character and pc bases were the stoic heroes for our side. Well Done.

DS, thanks for the hard fought 46 weeks. It was a masterful display of many aspects of the game from both sides. Well Done~!

Brad for the Nomads

Through the power of holy light and well-forged steel, the minions of the Darkness have been destroyed.

Hail victory!

Yes, an excellent and very enjoyable match.
Well done to the FP for the victory and to the DS for the challenge.

Game End files have come across… Looks like we got Dog and Dark eliminated. Fwankie, if you want to blame us for that, well…we’ll happily take full responsibility for eliminating 2 of your nations~!!!

Congratulations Brad and Team.

That’s a rare loss for some of us…

Yes, you got the Dog Lord and despite the very annoying GM experimentation with the market formula, it did not play into the final roll of the dice, although the price drop was not temporary and we would have inevitably been in dire straights soon which is a shame and would have resulted in a cheap victory to you.

We did not put up a good show really for various reasons and subsequently resorted to the kidnapping game. The boon in market prices was by no means orchestrated as implied and ME were right in their decision to clear us. The IK reserve was huge, mostly because of excellent steals and a well managed economy. I can’t remember sending the IK gold once, although I’m sure we must have early game.

You played an excellent army game so well done there. As the QA/Harad I was most annoyed in the delay in receiving certain key artifacts and I believe that would have made all the difference down south. Winning that battle earlier may possibly have turned the tide slightly in our favour. Debatable I know! I was pleased that (eventually) it was going our way; at one point it was looking a lost cause…

Till next time!

Bryn

What did the GM’s do…? They shouldn’t have done anything - you guys weren’t breaking “the Rule”.
