Game 225 - War Begins

Nick,

Pleast try and let us know by the end of the week what your team decides. Thanks.

  • Ben
    Dark Lts.

While Nick’s teammates are mulling over the game and whether to search for the ring, should we tell them we’re already hot on the trai . . . er, nevermind. Should probably discuss this privately first.

Russ

Here I am again, after a long time…

Let’s say it, we (the Freeps) can’t win any more :frowning:

But… the same can be said regarding the Dark Servants…

We can’t win nor can you!!

So here is ou proposal: let’s say this game is a deuce!!! There is no winner and loser.
We will sign an armistice… so that everyone will be happy, after all…

Will you sign it?

You surrender or you die. We’re winning right now and you know it. Both Gondors will fall as will Rohan. After that we march on Mirkwood and burn Caras Galadhon to the ground.

  • Ben
    Dark Lts.

Ok, if you are so sure about it…

Anyway I wouldn’t be so confident to win so easily ( I wouldn’t be confident to win at all if I were you).

We have more PCs, more money, more chatacters, more armies than you have. Do you realize this? What would happen if, all at once, all the FPs characters turn their back at you and start playing on their own???

You should fear this possibility…

I disagree that we can’t win. If we need to prove it, we are ready, willing, and straining at the bit. Have you decided to play on, then?

-Ovatharuss

Roberto said;

–What a bluffer, Roberto, you would make a terrible poker player! You know you are getting a caning, and last turn was just the beginning of the end for your power characters, the rest are not up to scratch. As for you having more of them, i think if covered that in a previous post. Furthermore: YOU ARE GOING DOWN unless you surrender first! Sorry, slipped into Min-mode there…

“What would happen if, all at once, all the FPs characters turn their back at you and start playing on their own???”

–We will jump on you from behind and stab you in the back like the evil, scurvy dogs we are! We are coming for you, how would you like to lose your third nation in one game? A bit humiliating, huh? We have so many MTs now you cant take one of us out, never mind the team. How many characters do Rohan or the Gondors have between them?

dendra the destroyer

AND ANOTHER THING!

There is obviously some disagreement on your team whether to play on, is that the sign of a team confident of winning? For our part we have already started the contingency plan for t36 [just in case some of you want to continue]. There will be Silvan deaths this turn [as i`m sure you know] but also several others from other nations. The Silvan nation may not be one of the crippled FP nations [but i bet you had a bit of a scare when the KE HC came calling!], however, how many players would want to continue with less than 5 characters and having to relocate every turn? It must get a bit demoralising? None of us are under pressure this turn, it makes forward planning so much easier. Whilst you play and lose Mordor-Roulette where do you think our offensive will go? Btw; Gondor is lost, look at the map and get over it!

Dendra the Deceiver

You guys are worthy opponents but no mercy Roberto. I’ve had several setbacks in this game thanks to you guys and I am looking forward to revenge.

If you really have all the advantages you say you have, why are you suing for peace? Seems strange…

Murazor

I’m a bit confused by Roberto’s comments. I thought it was just the drink, but others seem perplexed, too. By my estimate, the DS seem to have an unusually strong footing this turn.

It has been a good game so far. But the DS are not going anywhere. The FP need to make the choice to surrender or fight on. The DS will oblige either way.

<<[but i bet you had a bit of a scare when the KE HC came calling>>

  • Aye, a bit of Deja Vu for Roberto?! You’re never completely safe from my cav, Roberto. Your allies won’t always be there to save your tail. I’ll just have to give ole’ Lamthanc a ring on my next visit . . .

BTW, for the interest of humor and old memories (more than a year ago??), that was the very same army that took the Cors capital. It has literally pursued you across the face of Middle Earth  albeit not intentionally . . . I actually forgot you were the Silvan during your long silence. Well, you showed that army who’s boss . . . this time. I’ll be back. By the Sands of Khand, I swear it!!

No, no, no…

I never said we had the chance to win… well, not anymore!
As Nick already stated we lost 50% of the chances to win when Galadriel died. You took from us the remaining ones this turn…

I’m just saying that if we decide to play (please note that our team has not come to a decision, I’m only talking for myself) I’m pretty sure that you can’t win either!

I’m not bluffing. I really believe that you can’t win!
We’re stronger than you may expect.
We just don’t have the weapons to kill you, that’s it.

We’re like Goliath in front of David… we’re bigger, but you hold the sling!

The problem is that MEPbM allows us to resist undefinitely.
I think it’s not one of the funniest way to play, but it’s a way…
We could build a MT off map every turn.
How long would it take to take us one by one if you don’t even know where we are???

In my experience it’s very hard to kill a faction unless the players decide to “concede” the game.

If we won’t resign it will be a pain in the neck for you to come after us!
I’m not willing to concede this game because i think we’re still stronger than you.

I think that both team played very well.
I really learned a lot from you.
You’ve been wonderful adversaries.
But… we’ve been no less…

So… let’s sign this armistice!!!

Tell you what; you guys sign the armistice–a full unconditional surrender on your part–well take the victory right now, without having to beat you down in 20 or 30 turns to get it. We can then swap last turn pdfs and move on to a *possible* rematch? You are right in saying that the game can run and run, however our dominance will only increase and it will not be fun for you to get your pdfs every fortnight! How many on your team are willing to play on week after week getting only bad news? Thats why your team maybe considering surrendering to us! We are not about to call a truce, after a long, hard struggle we feel we have turned a corner in the last couple of turns and now we wanna have fun!

Dendra THE David.

This just shows how the game has changed right here. Where once you were threatening to destroy us you are now threatening to make us do a “Bug Hunt” and “smoke you out” of your hiding holes. Am I supposed to be impressed? I’ll be thrilled if you guys fight on because, yes, you’re still very strong but if you go this bug hunt route . . . well, you’ll come down a few levels in my opinion. But don’t think for an instant we’ll get exhausted and quit. We’re like machines, baby. Aaaaall Night looong!!

-Russ

Yes! Here here! A rematch! Fight on if you feel you still have a chance, but we’ll be waiting to start anew if this one ends.

-Russ

Wow. I would never want to fight a nation that “could build a MT off map every turn”. That would be some trick. You would need:

  1. Four really big emmys of the same nation following each others path.
  2. Plenty of cash. (thats 20k needed per turn on upgrades alone)
  3. Nobody actively attacking your nation.

Hmmm…currently you “might” be able to get those first two requirements. But the third is going to cause problems. I guarantee.

But, hey, it could be worth a shot? I say go for it!

cheers,
Adunaphel

One has to wonder if Roberto is looking at the same map we are. As of this turn, the FP hold NO major pop centers in or around Mordor. We hold almost EVERYTHING of note in North and South Gondor, are about to take anything else of note there, have just finished off the rest of their big guns character-wise (Elrond, Galadriel, Saruman, tons of agents, and more to come THIS turn!!), and have been burning major towns of theirs as far north as the eastern reaches of Northern Mirkwood. We’re 2 nations ahead (at least), maxed out on characters, have mastered the markets and our economies, and he thinks we’re “even”?? Incredulous. He’s just baiting us methinks.

Tell you what . . . eliminate 2 of our nations without losing any more on your part, take and HOLD 5 major towns in Mordor, and wipe out 2 curse squads, and we’ll sign your “treaty.”

Yes. It’s worth a shot. Game on!

C’mon, Nick. Where are you? We’re tearing your allies apart here. Chime in, blast it. Time for a rematch, and hey, you can join our side this time. You’d make a fine Lusher.

-Ovatharuss
Bloodthirsty Savage

Screw the armistice. If your side quits, we win. If you’re side doesn’t quit, we’ll simply eliminate you all however long it takes. Give it up, Roberto. You’re delusional. You have no idea how much of beating you guys are about to take this turn.

To paraphrase from the real Mouth of Sauron…

“You agree to withdraw to the West of Anduin and never raise arms against Sauron the Great again. All lands East of Anduin will be Saurons, soley, forever. All lands west of Anduin shall be tribute to him,”

The Dark Servants sign no armistice…you submit to Sauron, or the few left in your villages will do so after all others are dead.

The Cloud Lord

Yes, yes, Submit to Ovatharuss, er, I mean, “Sauron”, whatever, my little puppies, and we’ll let some of you live. nIcE LiTtLe PupPIEEES!!!
