I’m curious as to why the early concession. It’s true that we were about to take 2305 (our second WK capital) and that big avalanches of troops were bearing down on the QA and Dragon Lord, but you’d secured the Pass and were beginning to have effective assassins out there, and long-term character superiority favors the DS if they can hold out. Was the prospect of a Free Khand really that devastating to DS prospects?
I want to say the the early concession had as much to do with our side lack of interest and player setbacks. We had one player never submit a turn because he was bitten by a spider. One player refused to join the Yahoo group which led to huge communication issues. Another player passed away (Lewis) and yet another suddenly quit the game. We also trusted the Rhun player by letting him have access to our site, sent him gold and agent support. (removed a fort) The turn of the his attack, he suddenly stops communication with the group. So, to some extent most felt our site had been compromised. Players would no longer post turns or proposed orders since they felt the information was being passed on to the FP. In the past two weeks leading up to turn 9 only 8 messages were posted to the group by only two players. As you can see the were many more issues that were not apparent to you. Yeah, we were not being slaughtered and maybe had a chance, but we had too many issues to overcome.
I am willing to exchange PDF’s if you guys want to.
As far as I know, though, Rhun never told us anything about his proposed attack (some of his messages to us made more sense as disinformation and we got suspicious and Elrond used the Mantle to hide 4013, meaning the Rhun armies arrived with no pop center to attack. I’m guessing Rhun gave up in frustration at that point since he didn’t move for the next two turns – but as far as I know none of us ever had access to your site, nor did Rhun pass any secure information to us.)
I have no problem with sharing my PDFs, but I’ll see what the rest of the team thinks.
When Khand put up fortifications to block the pass I knew something was up. Saying that if he hadn’t attacked my backup then I believe I could of defeated the Corsairs and the Gondors who were attacking me, it would of been close but I had recruited a fair number of troops and was recruiting HC at the end.
