The DS had several problems that we couldn’t overcome to keep the game going.
We had three players who played the game via mail (not E-mail), and they dropped after having two major problems out of three turns after the date when ME PBM changed the people who took care of U. S. mail turns. Because of the service, they will not play again until one of them gets back on the internet.
Two people on our side (who were running 3 DS nations) were very unhappy that SK and West Reach joined us, stopping communication, and dropping on turn #7. Two of the other DS nations weren’t too happy about it, while my team of 5 was.
Since basically 5 nations dropped within 2 turns and the two remaining unhappy nations didn’t seem to be too interested any more, we just decided that our efforts should be spent elsewhere.

As far as I am aware: to be accurate the postal service in their town wasn’t able to deliver their turns in 2wks and so they SSed. We did our best to help out (sending turns onto team-mates etc) but that, unfortunately wasn’t enough. Glad that Mike etc have decided that despite these set-backs that they’ll be carrying on in future games. Thanks guys.
We’re not exactly sure where the mail problems were… It turns out that the late mail that Dan had mentioned actually got to him about 3 days after postmark.
Anyway, since there had been the problem two turns before, two of the three mail teammates could not be convinced that it was a postal problem. We really don’t know exactly what happened, but three turns all getting SSed seemed too suspicious to them,
