Well finally the G46 gunboat game has ended after 49 turns. After all this time it’d be nice to know about all the other players in the game and what actually happened.
I’ll start a bit about my positions. I started with the Vanyar (in N Mirkwood) and the Naugrim (in Harandor). The Vanyar were set up as a military nation with conjure mounts and free army hire and mages since I was pretty well surrounded by DS in the north. I was expecting to get attacked from two sides, but decided to hit the DS to my south the Vogon Exiles quickly (which seemed to work as I didn’t get many forces coming from the east). With the help of the House of Mauhir we kicked the Vogon Exiles out (I believe to the Rhun area) which is where I believe the other players nation the Quintari was based. We even managed to help knock out the Rhovanion Republic during this time.
My other nation was a bunch of Dwarven assasins with boats. They quickly (together with the Corem Thax) took out the Enedwath nation. They did some exploritory flailing about in Near Harad before teaming to take out the Dunland nation. I lost a few assassins early through a mixture of poor luck and bad play, but my second stringers started to come through and take over.
Eventually the Quintari (together with the Vogon Exiles) started to move against my eastern border of the Vanyar. They held them up for a long time against my brick wall at 2910, but I lost so many characters there that I was in danger of being knocked out through not having any commanders left. As it was I moved my capital from 2610 to 2313 and managed to survive. With the Naugrim helping to take revenge on the Quintari, and the Corem Thax and the Limlaith Host putting pressure on them from the south I was able to stablize and get the Vanyar back into the game.
A little after we had taken out the Dunland nation I noticed the House of Mauhir and the Baklemen had stopped moving. This meant (I assume) that the players had given up (rather than be taken out). I offered to take up a FP nation from those that were out (thinking I’d get the House of Mauhir) and was given the Karmerruki (who had an awesome amount of great assassins).
We then moved up to take out the Ice Chasm Orcs from the Iron Hills before bug hunting the Savants, Crystal Horde and the Corpse Banner. It took forever to find all the places the Savants had placed camps as they had almost randomly placed them all over the map at game start it seemed.
All in all an enjoyable game and I was particularly pleased that the Vanyar did so well in the end considering that I thought they would go out early due to their positioning.
I’d love to hear from the other players in the game about their experiences as I can now finally talk about it.
