Game 5

That fat lady has finished singing. Good game and congrats to DS. I echo Brad’s comments. I wish we could have managed more of an opposition for you, but, alas, too many self-imposed obstacles from too many directions on our end for that to be. Ah well. I had some fun moments and learned a few things, so not a total loss.

Hope to see at least some of you again in another game.

Cheers,
Mark (Noldo and, for the last several turns, Sinda)

NO BEAST the entire game! Ouch! It’s gotta be tough to swallow knowing WK proper still stands and the game ends on T12!!!

I know I know, there are plenty of reasons, but like I tell my kids,
SCOREBOARD BABY!!

I know many are bumbed the game ended so quickly. Our team did not know of all the blunders going on the side of the Free. WE were stunned many times to see we had won or gained advantages at certain spots and I’m sure those are the times the Free had their opportunities but did not cash in. And it’s those type of things that make me “NOT” want to play individual games.

I did not ask for this game and I was given the WK position on top of that. However, I was very excited to play against the players in the northwest as I knew it would be very challenging. I was strategically beaten a couple of times and I tried to just buy time in the later turns. But it’s tough to stay motivated when you’re being pummelled by some many armies. I was ready to throw in the towel on T9 before a couple teammates encouraged me to think outside the box. For that I am thankful.

The Free misfortune at particular spots and our early decisions started paying dividends quickly. And of most importance, I don’t believe we had a single “SS” on our team. That alone is enough to give us a slight advantage. And gaining the Harad and Corsairs really helped us and the WK in particular. However, they only took Pelargir and a couple SG towns. Our team had great intel on the Free armies and I must say, we were pretty shocked to see we had advantages everywhere except the Northwest.

I look forward to the next game, though I enjoy UW and GB and grudge a bit more than the individual 1650 games. Nonetheless, I’ll probably end up in another 1650 game of some type as these games fill quicker. Good Gaming Guys!

Yes, it was a disgrace. Whatever fleeting pleasure I gained from pummelling you and Rhu was immediately flushed down the toilet by the the disarry elsewhere. That two nations didn’t even submit orders for turn 1 (!) gave us a taste of things to come…

Anyway, it’s all water under the bridge now. Looking forward to the next game.

You mean, the next 1 Week Game…don’t you…???

Well played everyone. Overall it was a good game, the BS got some armies involved, had a sickness squad about ready and had a good emmy squad ready to pinch property from the Easterlings. Well played the Noldo for getting to first or pinching arties from under our noses, very frustrating when the BS had zero artefact lore spells to start with, not even an RA.

Looking forward to playing with or against you all in a future game.

Cheers,
Ian

We had some luck with artifact spells (IIRC, we had a couple LAs to start…maybe even a LAT), so were able to get going relatively quickly on the artifact hunt. That helped as we got several useable curse items (and stole one). Also found/stole some of the better agent artifacts. We actually had our first full curse squad active and in range of Mordor/Gondor/Harad just as we ended the game, and, after a hiccup where I got careless and forgot to have Gildor refuse (bad timing on my part to swap artifacts around), we recovered the agent artifacts and had them redistributed to have a three-killer and scout agent company ready to go, also in range of Mordor/Gondor/Harad.

All said, though, too little too late. From a character game, there were some bright spots. From the military perspective though, outside of the NW and the Easties foray into Mordor, not much to crow about. The fact that both DG and GG were still standing speaks volumes about our inability to coordinate multi-nation efforts this game.

Good job DS.

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks Dane for a good game. I played Arthedain and enjoyed our tussle. It was a game spoiled by stupid errors and far too many SS turns - mostly Sinda, Northmen, NG, & Dwarves. Then we had the drops… The debacle at 2715 was appalling.

To top in all you guys got the Southern Duo…

Well played, but alas, I think you won via FP error.
