Game 56 Ring Seekers

Hmmmm . . .

Okay, Turn 18 has run. Kudo’s to the Free, they’ve got attitude and have put up a fight. Does Bain have 15 backups and 75 War Machines? Otherwise, well, consider your options, eh?

Cheers,

the dark

Bain has recruited the Daleks, the Smurfs and bambi’s mother… Be scared, very scared!
Kudos to John for a fine CL performace

As the world’s greatest lyricist once wrote . . .

“Words cause our banner, victorious our day.
Will silence be promised as violence display?
The curse increased we fight the power
And live by it by day.
Our gods awake in thunderous roars,
And guide the leaders’ hand in paths of glory to the cause.”

And he wrote it about this game of course

Ahem, sorry for the intrusion Guys. What ever happened to Brad Brunet?

now ed, you cranky, unconstructive, whinging know it all  go back to the right thread, i’m happier on this one…

the dark

You’ve never jumped into threads nothing to do with you… kettle…pink in your case…

you must be smokin’ the…aw, forget it. sling away brother guy, sling away…

Thanks to the FP team here for giving us a good run.

Finally my team-mate, Fax is right about somthing:p: DS victory-Ring Seekers- turn 17.

Best of luck to Guy/Bern an the rest of you guys. Hope to see you fellows in future games.

Thanks all,
John L.

Thanks John, you played an exellent CL game and led the team with your usual skill
and strategy incisiveness… While we believed we could hold you guys for a long
time we just couldnt see a victory at the end of it and quite honestly we were getting
bored with beating up poor ol smack talking Brad.

But hell I voted to continue…

Lol, well it was worth spending the money on 17 turns just for such a rare and momentous occasion.

Like Guy I voted to continue but to be fair we hadn’t actually done much coordination over the last few turns so realistically it was never likely to improve. Of course My Dunleks (above) were ready to storm Morannon but even they would have struggled to turn the tide.

Well played all you guys, carrying Brad and beating us comprehensively is no mean achievement . . . okay I’ll stop the Bad-baiting now!

One thing I would like to just ask . . . what kidn of level of LA/LAT spells did you have at the start. I think it’s fair to say we were blown away in that department and never got close to you guys. Don’t get me wrong there was much more to it than that as your tactics were excellent at times but that was the thing that surprised me personally the most. You had picked most of them up before we even located the things if my memory serves even half well!

I’ll foward Bern our start up turns if you like.

We had good Lore at game start this game:
Dendra started LAT-71%
Murazor LA
Celedhring LA
Urzy RA

We hit 2 out of 3 LATs on turn 1. Thats about as good as any team could hope. By turns 3/4 we had at least 6 mages with LAT.

JL

For the record, this is one of the many reasons why I called the game on Turn 3. Consider all the digs against me right back in your crow-eating faces.

On top of securing the toys, we also played a total team game in many aspects. All artifacts went to the Cloud Lord, that included the Long Rider ones, FTR. I’ve seen this happen in Open games nowadays, not doing so in a grudge is pure lazy/selfishness IMO.

We shuffled our pops around for recruitment and econ reasons early. We also combined the Emis toys quickly to ensure we spent cash on creation. Again, these toys are underutilized most of the time.

Our campaign in the South was so well planned and lined up as to end up being the total victory it turned out to be. Again, we created Com artifact stacks allowing 2-3 Coms a turn to be able to successfully 498 virtually any target we so chose. We piled those into the South early. Once that theatre was finished, you might recognize what LR/DragonL did to the Eoplex along similar lines. Luck was on your side in SG else Harad was on his way to do the same (bad dice for our agents, etc…) there.

So all things considered, this was very clearly a different kind of game from the start. Our whopping Arty lead sealed the deal. The only thing that might have made the difference was an extremely successful dedicated push on Mordor early - Eo moving to Dol G meant this wasn’t happening and in a 12v12, SG is usually to preoccupied with the South right away to take out Durthang or really punch through the pass.

Thus the game call.

Otherwise, you guys put up a fight and were obviously working on a number of different fronts. We all believe you guys got pretty lucky agent rolls early on such that your training took some leaps, the Elves were pretty effective per order I suspect.

Virtually all credit goes to John. Guy, your accolades are misplaced. This was a Team Game. John deserves the credit for creating a team out of individuals and selling the concept. He deseves accolades for planning the game, accepting input from many and yet deciding the strategy and effecting it’s expression through all players. He does not deserve applause for his “Cloud Lord play”. You’re stuck on “John is the Cloud Lord and played well, Brad is Rhudaur and didn’t”. We were, for all intents and purposes, 2 of 6 paying the account fees for the DS team created, run, and managed by John. Note, much of this mis-placed credit is symtomatic of why we won also…consider…

All the best and see y’all around again!

Brad the Neut

Okay thanks, that’s fine for me, we started with one RA and one LA both on M50s.

Even by turn 6 we only had 4 LATs and 2 LAs.

Looks like we were way behind all the way. Like I say, it was a factor but far from the only one.

I think that Guy and I still felt that it was worth another few turns of extreme high risk moves - eg deliberately sending our agents after your Curses Squad and hoping for the best plus getting our curses squad into gear etc just to see if we could tip the balance but I could understand that it was “unlikely” that we’d have emerged as winners.

Still, good game, onto the next one

Brad, I think the digs at you were because you came across as someone whos main substance is arrogance. This was not how you came across at all in our previous game but then in that you were, shall we say, one of the most pacifist Cloud Lord’s in the history of the game. Even you would have struggled to find anything to brag about there before you bailed out.

Now, you’ve completed the picture, you boasted about it while someone else made it happen and told you what to do . . .

I was expecting you guys to be having that discussion. We weren’t about to start whining about wasting money and “why don’t you quit already”…of course, pointing out how hopeless your situation is would have been expected…!

As for the continuous and endless cycle of personality attacks against me, well, I put myself out there as the team punching bag - punch away brothers, whatever empowers you…

Cheers,

Brad for The Dark

In my defence, I had to take a lot of shots at it, there isn’t much to aim at.

That’s better!

Lol, can’t decide whether to like you or just keep firing cheap shots at you when you do that!

Fire away, I’ll keep judging the quality…
