I’ve signed up for Game 59.
I’m new around here. In actual fact, I’m pretty old around here as it turns out. I used to play ME about 12 years ago when it really was a PBM. Basically, I finally got around to watching the LoTR Trilogy a few weeks back which inspired me to check ME Gaming out again and I was delighted to discover this website.
Nothing much seems to have changed in the rules over the past decade it seems other than the technology available outside the actual game itself. (Would it be possible to confirm that nothing has changed to the rules)? I’ve downloaded a lot of the stuff available on the website and I’m itching to be able to start using it.
I’ve done extensive reading of a lot of the material available to refresh myself with the rules and tactics of each nation. Way back in 1995??? My most enjoyable game back then was a successful campaign as Rhudaur (turning Dark fairly early) and wasting Arthedain whilst the Duns took Cardolan apart to save a useless WK who then dropped pretty much leaving the whole of Eriador to our whim. In another game I had a pretty successful time as the Dragon Lord, managing to hold onto Dol Guldur until about turn 15 and then playing a character based game from Mordor after that. I played the Khand Easterlings in 2950 Game 2 which was pretty good. I’ve also played as the Blind Sorcerer and Fire King in successful campaigns. In actual fact I can’t actually remember being on the losing side back then. I suppose that I must have done at some time - strange how you only remember the victories!
Anyway, as you might be able to tell. I’m chomping at the bit to start playing again so I second the post encouraging people to sign up for this game. Good luck all!

For clarity I’d read from the Middle Earth Guide as they’re updated/clarified rules for the game.
Note, it’s best not to talk about what side/nations you’ve signed up for in a game until the game actually starts - thanks and best of luck in the game.

ok, edited my post… no longer saying which allegiance I intended to join (in case there’s people that haven’t read this threat yet)…
welcome back to mepbm, killa… I think I first started back in the late 90s, when GSI was running the show… I think it was GSI anyway… and it was a mail based game then, though it was turning to email based… I myself took about a 3-4 year hiatus from mepbm, just started back up again a few months ago, though this will be the first game I’ve been in from turn 0 (picked up a couple of dropped nations).
rules/orders have basically remained the same, as best as I can tell…
look forward to playing with (or again) you, and everyone else who joins up (hint hint)!
