I've had more stolen off me in recent 2950 games.

The general rule is that you can't steal more gold from a pop center
than it has. Since most pop centers ship all their gold off to the
capital they'll never have more on hand than one turn's
production. [It's very nice to steal from gold-producing
camps.]
However, ALL your gold is at the capital, so a really good thief can
get it all. (Actually, he probably starts an insurance Ponzi scheme
or something, rather than trying to walk out of town laden with tons
of Au.... but that's part of being a high-ranking agent.)

Not true in games I've played. Camps, no gold production, have given up
6,000 or more. I remember 'cos I whinged loud and long at the time...
