game 64, mistake or blantant stupidity

Obzone, I agree with you but at the same time, its my time and my money too, and frankly if one side isnt cutting the mustard Im not about to save their butts.
For the record the Southern Confederacy does not believe the actions of SG to reflect the attitude of the remaing Freeps

It doesn’t disqualify you, but you didn’t tell us he was nuts! If you’d done that from the beginning, we could have set our expectations just as you could have. We figured he was a normal player, and we wanted him to do normal player things.

jason

Jason, we thought he was a normal player too, just very quiet and withdrawn. Had we known he was a renogade we would have said something. Every time we asked him to communicate with you guys we would get a short blurb from him along the lines of “OK I’ll talk to them”, or “I have sent them a message, they havent replied” etc. From what we have found out about him he pretty much does his own thing and is never part of a structured team. I for one will be requesting not to be played in a game where he is on either team. (I don’t want the opposition folding for the same reasons we may end up have happening to us) He would be fine as a neutral however. I think he should be persuaded to play gunboat, it would suit his style of play. Let’s wait and see what the turn brings.

Regards Herman

Perhaps his Minnesota friends will invite him to read and respond to this thread.

No, you are absolutely right. That is where I think we ultimately made the biggest mistake. We should have idenitified him as a problem early on and dealt with it instead of continuing to play under the illusion that he was playing as part of our team, but like Herman said, he did take steps that made us think that he was playing on our team, so we kept hoping. And you are also right, that was the rant part.

But I guess what I’m thinking is that it’s double bad luck if the player who flakes out is SG instead of the Northmen or the Woodmen, for example. Not only is he critical to holding off the armies of Mordor, but he’s also critical in persuading (at least one of) the southern neutrals to join the FPs.

Hey, your Woodmen might turn out to be flakey :stuck_out_tongue: yet!

Regards Herman (Peeling at the edges, Woodmen)

I doubt it, not that they aren’t good guys. Both were much better team mates than Chris. They were his apologists said his behavior was not like him that he was basically a good guy. However they never seemed to have much influence on what he did except that when you would lay out why it was absolutely necessary for him to do something one or the other would convince him to do it. You never heard from him but his character would receive the appropriate orders.

I think it is a waste of time to try to work with him. He does his own thing, is a me first player, and cannot be trusted to do what he says or even to believe he has done what he promised as he never sends proof and to suggest that he do so such as a bbc copy of his missives to the neutrals etc is to question his integrity.

Don’t have an easy answer here. I know that at least one player on the free has played in the same game with Chris that I dropped and he too can vouch for Mr Wiome’s different approach to teamwork.

no that sounds pretty much part and parcel of our experiences with him, claiming to have sent us 5 emails with no response, anyone who knows me knows I am all about the response, well regardless he will be dealt with either by us or the DS Im sure…good luck all with tomrrow’s run!!

I note it is said the reason I am not playing is because the game is beyond our side.

That is not the reason so much as past games with the same problem have proved a bitter pill to swallow turn after turn and who pays money to suffer?

Yes we cannot win this against 14-15 players with us down to 9-10? but to those who want to carry on good luck, I just prefer to enjoy my games now and not struggle on no matter what.

Vandal

I’ve said it to others before. Vandal, you assume too much

Obs, we didnt demand, we brought up what we saw was lacking in hopes you guys would get things patched up. Then went to our chairs to watch and listen. If the FP couldnt turn it around and be cooperative and productive, why should we hand the FP a victory? While punishing the DS for doing good? BTW we did see improvements and became hopeful that you guys were doing a good job… Then Chris Wombat went nutty.

Yet I said from the begining that I did not want this to be a short game, and would endeavor to keep it from becoming so. That’s the truth.
err dont read into that statement please :stuck_out_tongue:

-Harad

I would just like to say at no point have I questioned your motives or your choices.

I have never said you should join us and have no idea ewhat you are talkign about quite frankly.

My problem lies within our own team and in no other direction, so perhaps you can explain what and where your reply came from as I really have no idea.

Again I have never said you should save us, only that i have no desire to waste my time with the same stuff I have been through far to often and have no desire to pay good money to suffer.

A simple choice but my own.

Now if this was a simple 4 nuetrals or 5 nuetrals fighting us then as in game 7 and game 30 whatever the outcome you go down fighting, but I no longer have the stomach for crap like this

Vandal

Vandal

Did i read wrong? I thougt you pulled out because you think this is a hopeless game because of the actions of one.
Hopeless meaning there’s no way the FP could win? As a Neutral I contest that sentiment.
Quite bluntly yet with no malise, I think your hoplessness was unjustifiably premature. Just adding to the downspin of things.

Hopeless, no, unlikely yes. NGon can’t hold the pass on his own. The DS knowing SGon lack of support can target NGon knowing any NGon army knocked out before it gets to the pass is not going to be replaced with a SGon one. They will break out into NGon who must also leave sufficient force on his border to deter the neutrals from deciding to take easy pickings.
All of this is moot of course as I am hoping Chris will do the right thing and sail for Osgilliath averting the whole mess. (Fingers crossed)

Regards Herman

This is a game not about if you win or lose but more about how you play it and if you enjoy the process.

A win here is not likely but again who cares, but darned if I want to play in a team, again where one player is so at odds with the rest.

Thats the choice I have made, not going through that mill again, no more or less.

Vandal

That’s fine. you do what you want to do.

Not to toot my horn, but the past 3 1 week games I have been in, there was severe conflict in each. Hell, the last got so tense, two members left the yahoo group. Often it looked like we could not win. But many in the teams just sucked it up and pressed foward. All 3 games our teams won. That makes for a damn good rewarding feeling.

Some people got what it takes to stick it out and attempt to persevere. Some want things easier since it’s a game we pay for, or just can’t tollerate some mud on their shoes. Not that one is right and other wrong. Just personality differances.

Guess we got our answer, SG attacked Harad…now you die…

What a freaking Jerk. Is there a Blacklist on this forum to list people on it that sabotage their own side? If not there should be, to warn otehrs about miscreants like Chris Wiome. I think I will start one.

Two observations; I notice that Chris did not even one time make a contribution to this thread in which obviously most were trying to correct the problem that he appears to have caused. Then when it was made obvious to him what a disaster he was creating not just for his fellow Gondor and the rest of his team but for himself as there is no way that South Gondor alone can prevail against an alliance of Harad and the Corsairs he not only failed to back off, he continued his attack.

This make make for interesting game situations for the southern neutrals and desperate situations for the rest of the free with the Duns and Rhudaur now DS. Chris has however really thrown a wrench into this game and as you can see he doesn’t care a whit.

Clint, please don’t every match with this individual again. I won’t mind playing against him but never again with him.

Brad

I would never want to play with OR against someone that does this kind of thing…the first ME game I ever played in ended on like turn 3 when the FP team dropped and it was a collossal disappointment.

Seriously, if you spend time developing your nations and strategies and are seeing how they are playing out…you do not want to just have the game end for ANY stupid reason…victory or not.

I suspect that the drops solved your problems otherwise to play out a game with constant infighting to me what does it prove.

Having done it in to many games I dont need or want to spend the time and effort it takes for what is meant to be fun.

Of course for those who like it when it goes beyond the game as the infighting gets worse you are welcome to it
