game 66 turn 27

Hey Hermie~! What are the odds you were expecting ME to show up there? I love these moments…

It’s touching, this brotherly love that has North Gondor sending thousands of men across the mountains to take the ass end of Southern Gondor back from the Fire King. Mind you, the fact that you’re in this situation and that it’s only getting worse, must only hasten your quest for the One Ring, no?

Cheers, and Good Luck!

Ugboo the Salamander

Hell, that should have hapened about 12 turns ago.
I’m suprized Hallas the old goat lasted as long as he did at the capital.
It appears that a nasty case of Knifeiteous has broken out in Cardolan, symptoms include greatly reduced mobility, a general lack of motivation and a small bleeding laceration to the middle of the back. Sufferers are cold and clammy to the touch and unresponsive to most stimulants, including a nice bracing cup of tea. All cases so far have been fatal. Doctors seem to be at a loss for it’s cause but believe it may have something to do with contact with the DS.

Regards Herman

Why should we have killed Hallas? It’s been obvious for months now he was a powerless stooge - I mean, have you been reading his reports to this forum? That was a mercy killing, and, frankly, more than a few of us are quite upset at Cloudy for killing one of our favourite comediennes…

Ugboo

ps - I meant that army sitting on the town Hallas said you’d reclaim shortly…but of course! [slaps forehead]…what was I thinking…forget I said that…

Like I said, consider it a loaner, a very short term loaner.
I see we are starting to get a few more little lights on the boards. I think you guys may have lost your chance to put us away.
You had a couple of nations on the ropes early but failed to finish them off. :stuck_out_tongue: They are now starting to take the game back to you.

I have still got to find a worthy replacement for Hallas. I’d put Imlach in charge but he is out the front retaking towns in Harad and as such will probably come down with Knifeiteous. Hmm will have to pick one soon I think.

Regards Herman;)

What are you talking about? No, really? This is a thread for game 66. I’m sure you’ve got lots of lights in game 95…please keep them straight. Thank you.

Ugboo

Sure Herman, the Northmen are going to come back, right after they lose two cities and a MT in two turns. The EO may as well pack it in, ditto for Harad. The Dwarves are done. SG? Don’t make me laugh. Perhaps you refer to NG going on the offensive? That will be quickly blunted. Not the silly Arthy army coming after me? I’ll “remove” that threat shortly. So whom, might I ask, do you refer to?

Uvatha

I have to repeat, for outside viewers…NG’s “offensive” is crossing the mountains from Calmirie to take Morthondost back from the Fire King… Far South Gondor and the Iron Hills are Mordor’s front lines? Okay then…keep sending those lights! I like these lights!

Ugboo

Hmmm activity on the boards for our game… NOW that’s a surprise!

Hallas:

Why are you surprised that we spared Hallas for so long? Do you not recall me stating early in the game that your backwater fiefdom was beneath the notice of the eye at this time, and thus you will have the priveldge of suffering and survivng while we quash every ally around you? Well now that its turn 27 your just about the only target left. Seriously we’re running out! We enjoy your feeble guard and assassination attempts. At this stage in the game our agent ranks are so high we can kill with impunity anywhere we choose. Keep guarding lol.
As to Hallas replacement, I agree Imlach is a poor choice he will be handled shortly. Why don’t you name Finduillas III? Oh wait he is cold and clammy now too.
Please direct me to these lights of yours, all I see is blackness expanding in every direction at once.

Where’s Elrond when you need him?

Urzahil

That was Miss Finduillas the Third. (That’s the last time I listen to advice that she would be safer out of the hills!)
I was going to have poor old Hallas heve a crack at the company commander but was talked out of it. I figured if he was going to die he may as well go out swinging. :frowning: Well I can’t complain to loudly about getting a flogging, it is only my second game after all.

Hermie–

Well I played Cardolan in may last game. If I knew the assassins were there I would have not only issued an asass, but a personal challenge as well. Hallas should have a decent CR by now. If you issued the challenge against any of my characters you would lose, they have obscene CR’s now. Still there is always the possibility of a very lucky roll, and IMHO some chance is better than no chance.
As to Finduillas being safer in the hills, in a normal game where the DS is being pressed that might be true. We have so many kill capabale agents on our team now that we can cover terrain that would normally be low priority. Sorry. :frowning:

Well it looks as though your wishes may yet be granted. I have been quoting from the writing on the wall for many, many turns now to my team mates and it seems some of the more enthusiastic of our team are starting to see what I have been talking about. It’s like one of those 3D pictures, if you stare at it long enough you will see what is there. The final challenge was to have come up with a master plan by tomorrow to turn the game around and so far it has been deafening silence. (even from our most ardent players) Still considering that over half our team has played less than 3 games and only two of our team have played more than 10, I think we can hold our heads high that we never lost a nation.

Regards Herman (Spokes person for the seemingly permanently vacant throne of Cardolan)

I’ve got several options for the FP, maybe one of them can help you get back in the game:

1- Offer large cash bribes(real cash, not ME gold) to several of the DS players to attack their allies.DK LTS may be a good choice to start

2- Ask ME Games for a " do over"

3- Quit this game, then sign up for a new one. That way you’ll have a fresh start and actually have a chance to win, very much unlike this game. Glad to see you finally see it.

Uvatha

If your experience is all around that low, they for sure, hold your heads up high. Although, I was under the impression you had very experienced Dwarf, Sinda, and Arthedain players…did they get replaced?

The DS withstood a vicious winter assault in the early game and built up and out steadily, if conservatively, from there. There is no hope for the Free in this game and it’s only going to get less satisfying every pdf as armies appear in places they shouldn’t, more and more pops are lost, etc.

It’s been a solid battle, we haven’t blasted to victory, but we’re a very large boulder rolling on a gentle downward slope and you have no leverage available to you to help stop it. Look forward to seeing you in some other game, and shall continue to kill you in this one for as long as necessary…

Ugboo

Ahh don’t drop now we finally decided to eliminate a few of your nations.

Urzahil

I kept telling you to kill off a couple a lot earlier. you had rhudaur by the balls at one stage and then just let him go. Same with South Gon. had one of them folded the team probably would have dropped earlier.
It is now official we the Freepeoples congratulate you on your fine win. We have been slowly ground into the dirt and must now submit before the might of Mordor. Well played, I have totally enjoyed it and learnt quite a lot. Look forward to playing with (Already am with some of you) or against you in the future.

Regards Herman (The Garrulous Freep)

There’s no shame in folding your tents and calling it a day against overwhelming odds. It’s just a shame you took so long to realize it:) . However, you’re right that we should have eliminated a couple of you. It’s hard to do at this point, there’s always someone to pass along a new town or whatever it takes to keep a nation alive. If this had gone on a few more turns a couple would have been knocked out but it’s better off this way for all involved.

Good Luck in the future

Uvatha

Sorry guys it looks like I was premmeture in my official surrender. A couple of the guys want to continue the fight. About 4-5 of us have confirmed we are calling it a day 2 want to fight on and we haven’t heard from the others. Sinda/Arthy/Cardy/Rhu and Nthmen are calling it a day. Noldo and Dunlendings want to slug it out and we don’t hear from the Gondors till the last moment, which has been half our problem. They were far too inexperienced to be running those nations. It looks like you may still have to play on. Sorry if I got your hopes up. I doubt they will get the replacements to continue.

regards Herman

I am not disappointed either way, but please do let us know whether the fight is still on or if we all go to the next game. Thanks Herman.

Urzahil aka Brian H.

Herman–

FYI we did not ground Rhudaur into the ground because he was not a threat. To this day he has done very little for your team. Gondor was saved because your agent dropped the bridge precisely the turn we were marching on Pelargir. While this game is primarily an offensive excercise, there are occasional defensive manuevers that have to be completed. This was exacerabated by the fact that your team had 2 more positions than ours, and thus through sheer weight of numbers forced us into more counter moves than we would have liked. We could have eliminated Rhudaur, but at the cost of a breech to Mordor. I think we made the right decesion.

Urzahil

Unless you hear from Clint/Harley etc put a turn in. I would hate for you to get shafted on my advice.

Regards Herman (Ex spokesperson for Cardolan)
