Dear all,
This will be my *second* attempt to post to the list after my initial attempt at an introduction disappeared into the ether (fortunately, I checked by logging on to Yahoo groups and lo and behold! no post). As made clear in the subject header, I am a new player to MEPBM and hope to be playing for some considerable time. The recent player guides in Flagship in conjunction with Kevin Bobbins superlative ME web-site - an invaluable resource, so kudo's to everybody who contributed - persuaded me to finally sign-up after ignoring the lure for so long.
After reading through all the 1650/2950 and 4th age guides I eventually settled for the 'classic' 1650 game and put Rhudaur fairly high on my list. In first place was the 'Dragon Lord' *, but I suspect Clint and co. felt a wee bit sorry for me in my maiden game and thus provided me with a neutral position. Stop sniggering at the back! Neutral in all but name only - I would wager that Rhudaur has 5 turns maximum to decide an allegiance or reap the whirlwind (unless, a superb diplomatic effort is waged).
* I like a challenge, and both positions demand and force diplomacy and hard decisions early on.
Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to contact other players in my game ('#69) because I have suffered tremendous difficulty in accessing the PBM forum. I am unable to create a profile (active X controls and Java script all on, as well as cookies - results in nada) and thus, have chosen a rather public introduction to ask players in my game (particularly the 'Witch King', the 'Dundelings',
Arthedain and Cardolan to provide a means of contact - either email, snail mail and/or telephone number). **
** If you're reading this, chances are that an email address will be sufficient.
I will be playing Rhudaur as a strictly *neutral* position, and thus am willing to form a constructive dialogue with my neighbours by way of entering into negotiations regarding my allegiance. My neutrality will depend on a large part on the actions of my fellow 'neutrals' - early conversion and my allegiance will be determined by game balance, but I'd much rather any potential conversion be the result of good diplomacy. By all means, any nation in game #69 please contact me at your earliest convenience.
Introductions over, I wish you all (be it on the list or in my particular game) a good gaming experience in whatever game you currently play.
Regards,
Christian
