Let me see, oh yes the Duns changed their icon to the eye and then they complain that a lightbulb starts to flash at their pop centres, get used to it cause it’s going to happen a lot more often over the coming turns
The Cardy turn went as expected, even the QA threat went as expected, i wonder if they think they are safe
The WK lost at 1510, Rhu army intercepted by 2 Cardy armies and just 1 eye next door to my capital, i wonder if its going to get anywhere soon
Oh and one final bit of info. i’m now officially back and in control of my turns again
that eyeball by your capital…Maybe one is all that was needed…
and you moved into our lands, aggressionist…and it is no suprise you think the Qa is done in your backfield…you may sit a while longer in your castles Hallas…but not much so.
the proud people of Dunlend cannot abide such aggression on our doorstep.
go easy on my civilian militia and the villagers…and we shall spare you in turn…spare them not…and you will pay in buckets of blood for every footfall in our lands.
Hear now all the call of the Dunlendings…fighters from all those who hear the call of Sauron…come to Dunlend and gain glory in our fight against Cardolan and her aggressionist allies among the Elves, Dwarves, and men of the region…their day has come…
Cardolan has shown their intentions from the beginning…how else would over 3000 troops just be sitting across the bridge? They intended to annex the proud people of Dunlend for months…
We shall not be subjegated…we shall not be intimidated…let all our forces understand…no quarter to the enemy if none is shown at our village…
Put away your farming tools, your fine crafts. Take up the spear and shield of your fathers and march together…put away the white robes of peace we have worn for so many years. Today we shall put on our black armor and grey cloaks and march. we shall stop at the bodies of those we destroy and dip our grey hoods in their red blood…the citizens of Cardolan will see us coming and know it is doom approaching…doom in the red and grey haze of Dunlend’s forces…
Woe to you Hallas and Argelleb. Woe to Bain and Elrond. Save your people and leave us in peace. Or pay thousands fold the awful cost for your misguided attacks.
Commander Pochak of the Blind Sorcerer reported had accidentally crushed a small Dwarven army during a night march. Soldiers used Warg urine and dragon scles to remove the stains.
Other reports as follows:
Dragon Lord army defeats Northman army. The commander noted the enemy troops were shaking with fear before battle.
Gondorian commanders continue to feed their troops to our dragon at Minas Ithil. Rumors are spreading that Lamthanc is getting sick of man flesh. Efforts are being made to enhance his diet by roasting his food first.
A Cardolan commander commited suicide in Cargash.
Merchants in Bar-en-Tinnen and Minas Ithil gave gold to passers by. There was much merriment that day.
A Gondorian commander died of fear at in front of the Black Gates.
The Quiet Avanger continues unopposed in the West.
A guilt ridden Gondorian commander is slain for ordering an attack on civilians in Aglarond.
The population of Zarak-dûm voted to join the Witch King. Residents reported displeasure with the current leaders ‘short comings’.
A Gondorian bridge collapsed due to poor workmanship.
An immense battle between two of the mightiest armies in the North West ended with a hard fought defeat for Rhudaur. We salute the grim determination of our Dwarven foe but we are far, far from done as yet…
You stand in our lands, on our village. You have an opportunity to save your soldiers and your lands if you turn around now and refuse to follow the orders of old man Hallas. He would make war on a peaceful people and force you to be his instrument. Much to his dismay your sacrifice will have been for naught.
On the morrow we shall see if our people were ravaged by you or left to live as they have for so many years; peaceful neighbors across the river from Tharbad…
Hmm let me see, a 3 prong attack upon the Cardy homeland. QA by sea, Rhu with dragon and a Dun army thats wondering around aimlessly  Rhu has been dealt with, QA is contained and the wondering Dun army is intercepted.
Then you are playing the rightious card with a little Cardy army sitting astride the bridge at 1715. Its no wonder that the citizens of Nin-in-Eilph decided to throw a party in celebration of the defeat of your militant army that was making their life a misery. Its good to see that those collaborators have got what was coming to them and that in the streets only loyal patriot citizens waving flags made from Royal Cardy colours are now visiable
Your slant and spin of the facts will not go unchallenged anymore than your aggression.
The facts are the our army, which you engaged on your way into Rhudaur lands, did not move toward your pop centers nor did they land on any of them. You ran into us…
The facts are that we have not yet landed on any Cardolani outpost at all…we even asked you to not attack our villagers and the militia that was posted there. You did on your own w/o provocation.
The facts are we gave you several chances to not engage our people. You chose to engage us.
Enjoy the fruits of your minor victories. Prepare your grave sites…for we will be filling them forthwith…
Grieve for those who died facing Rhudaur’s dragon. It will not be last one that sends thousands of your people to their end. Certainly it is the beginning of your demise.
North Gondor! You have another army posted near our southeastern border. Was losing your army in the pass and their commander being slain not enough for you! Do not cross our border or you will surely share the fate of the Cardolani.
Indeed it seems we are to war with the entire Northwest and their allies…we welcome the challenge. We welcome the glory.
I can say that no the FP’s are not losing, especially in the NW. The QA has taken 2 Cardy towns but both of those will be reclaimed over the next few turns. Rhu (+dragon) tried to reach 1614 to destroy my army there but was nicely intercepted and in the ensuing battle all armies were destroyed. This allowed me to move across the bridge to take the war to the Duns. A Dun army tried to reach 1510 once they realised that they couldn’t do any damage at my capital but was again intercepted.
Arth & the Stumpies have kindly distracted Rhu with the Stumpies winning a couple of battles and Arth having a nice army at a Rhu town.
The WK tried to send a cav. army against Arth but got eliminated. The WK has been left untouched but soon his turn will come.
The Ithil pass looks like a tangled mess, though NGo still holds Minas Ithil.
Free forces are surrounding the North Gate.
Looks like a major push is starting by the DS through the backdoor against the NM.
The arty front was looking great for the Free but we have just lost a couple of arties, though we still have the majority of them.
The big thing is what are the southern neuts up to??? Are you 3 forming a new alliance to take us all on or will you be joining in the DS bashing or making it 5-0 in the way the neuts may go in this game
After having picked up my jaw from the floor…I have to clean up Ian’s misrepresentation of the war…imagine that…
Rhudaur had a small army…the dragon was there to help burn off his troops as we assumed, from the sheer number of troops that cardo had he would be moving soon…so we put a few icons on his map to distract him…
he ran into that rhudaur army and lost his cav and some other troops…nice “block” Ian.
The army that I moved, on purpose, only to the village and not his backup was to block him from coming into Dunlend…it was freakin’ Men at Arms…Militia…big enough to not be overrun but enough to recon him…he came over the bridge…fair enough…but brag that you stopped me from invading you w/ 1100 ma is silly…and deceiving…
And the other army that dunlend had, which moved east to help block, was sent east because they ARE A BLOCKING ARMY…I never intended to hit your capital…but it’s nice that you would think a smallish army like that would be able to take your capital while my men at arms take your back up…
For the love of…
And you think you’re winning no doubt…lol…you’re going to lose most of your armies if not all of them the next couple turns and yes I am coming for your MajTowns…duh…
And finally about the Qa…c’mon…we know it’s not a major offensive…but it did bring the noldo down…lol…and you have lost two towns to him…not for nothing but two towns is two towns…and what have you taken? … (crickets…crickets…) thought so.
I’ll be happy to email the remaining neutrals and explain the war overall…might tell NG to start recruiting…it’s embarrassing for the people in those pop centers to have so few guardians…not that your commanders will be alive to lead them for long…
AND WOULD YOU PLEASE turn over the artifacts you have…we’ll give back the ones we stole in trade…lol…loved that didn’t ya…
and while I’m at it…I read the rest of the posting…not too bad Ian…but
The surrounding of Morannon…are you kidding…clearly there to prohibit movement out of the gate, not get into it…
NG holds Ithil…big whoop…What has NG done so far? Um…good guy though I liked talking w/ him…
Anyway…yeah the wk got caught up in the Nw, sure enough…his time is coming…oh we’ve heard that before…and the guy is smart…he’s ready…I’m ready…are you boys…
And the dwarves did take back imladris…and bain landed a small army on a camp…and that’s going to be the end of it…
I’m suprised you all didn’t brag more about your 2 huge and the large army being blocked outside Dol Guldor…that’s impressive…and the measly army that got in…well…
And the dwarves have to take whatever braggin rights they can…they were overrun out east of mordor…major offensive in the rhun area, hah,…it’s practically the same move in every 1650 game these days…hardly worth mentioning…
But yes I do talk to the neutrals…we all should…I’m a little suprised the harad/corsairs don’t garner more attention from the free…they did a fair job in talking to me…maybe they feel you two have already made up your minds to join them out of some sort of distorted “game balance” argument…the worst kind to make…
HERE’S THE TRUTH.
the northwest is definitely in play…no clear advantage…rhun is pristine ground to pound…it’s in free hands right now…
Mirkwood is still like it was …no suprises there…
Mordor isn’t scratched…though NG isn’t hurt much yet either…
Hmm…looks to be a great fight still yet…the southern neutrals will generate some buzz no doubt…but it’s hardly a skewed fight one way or the other…
I, Envoy Scratchenflees of Morannon, have been sent to relay a message from Mordor in response to the falsehoods spoken by the foul monkey boys of Cardolan. The letter states:
The citizens of Morannon strongly denounce any rumor of being surrounded. A few small herds of Eothraim have been seen roaming around the outskirts of Mordor, but they are too small to be considered a threat in any way.
Also, we are not aware of anyone pushing in any Northmans back door.
Ohh the fun in and around DolG! I must admit I was successfully, tactically blocked at 2614 by a brilliant manouver by the Freeps. It was a massive blow to me and a stunning move on the Freeps side to have the Huge Sinda, Huge Woodmen and Large Dwarven forces successfully hold me up there… Duran was most annoyed. Two Regents and a Veteran vrs a Regent, oh my oh my, the fun times that will be had there. I have nothing to loose and everything to gain whereas the Freeps have everthing to loose and will gain… well nothing hopefully. The miserly Northman force that was let in will be accounted for and who knows…I might get lucky again (yes luck does play a major part in it) and block them again. Only time will tell if enough survive this turn to get into DolG. I think I will rename it Trobruk in honour of the Rats from WWII. Go you good things!
A missive for you arrives now from the Fire King. It would appear our emissaries have been unsuccessful in bringing news to your worthy nations. Those that failed have been sent to the front for redemption.
Allow us this moment of your time to clarify the Western approaches situation. The Fire King has recruited a mighty ally of Sauron into his armies that currently occupy Minas Ithil…a dragon of much power. We stand ready to bring additional soldiers into the city under the banner of Uklurg and will likely continue to occupy this city til the Council of Regents in the White City are brave enough to confront us over this once proud land. We are currently unopposed in Minas Ithil. There are 300 troops in Osgiliath. The bridge to Minas Anor is down. The council is failing its people. We shall prevail.
We would hope that the arrogance of Cardolan continues to chafe those mighty nations that remain neutral. Surely his words are slander to the brave defense of Dunlend that is now under way. We would wonder what will be said about the Easterlings’ tribes … perhaps a quote ?
Hallas " Well we know Khamul was an Easterling…the apple does not fall far from the tree… perhaps negotiations with such as they will be unfruitfull…lol."
More needs said? Ji Indur Dawndeath was a king of the south; and all know in times past the Corsairs have been referred to as pirates and worse.
The Sons of Sauron will not hide the truth! We will welcome everyone to join our side. There can be no trust of Cardolan nor indeed of the Free Peoples! They are haughty and rich. They are false and wicked in their hypocrisy.
We will take no more of thy time this tenday. A parting word; the free want you for your soldiers and your riches. So that someday they may usurp you for their greed. We want you to join for the eternal master commands it. He is your strength and worthy of your attentions. He shall not deceive you. He is what he appears to be.
The war rages and the rivers run red!! Bring forth the dragons and let slip the dogs of war!
The proud people of Dunlend have spoken, if war is what the Cardolani want…war they will have. The Cardolani marched over 3000 infantry into our lands and attacked our militia…
The Duns have responded by annihilating those troops and moving into Tharbad. We will not tolerate the presence of these usurpers on our borders any longer. The people of Tharbad will be given safe conduct out of the area for the next 14 days; after that, they are on their own.
To those who would ally with Cardolan: You will not be safe anywhere your people or leaders dwell. Arthedain can claim no safe haven. Even in their own capital, leaders die. North and South Gondor, who are massing on our borders cannot claim safe haven. You move one inch into our land with your armies and we will destroy them and return the favor at a time of our own choosing…we will not be intimidated, we will not bend.
We will fight. Your people will die. You will suffer much to gain even a handful of Dunlend dirt. Understand a heavy toll must be paid. Understand we will see it paid in full.
In order to try and even the game up I’ve decided to go FP. Despite the recent wayward carrier pigeon (which has since been shot, stuffed, roasted and then given to the dogs…) I always intended to announce my declaration before making any offensive moves, whichever team I joined.
Good luck to all and here’s to a long and challenging (but enjoyable) game.
