This has been hashed, but has recently come up again on the forum, so I'd appreciate a reminder, if possible:
Let's see, games numbers 1-39 are 1650, FA gets the 40's, then back to 1650 through 99, the 100's are "special" games, 200's are 2950. Good?
Why again can't game numbers go above that? Presuming it's a 3 digit programming issue here? If so, why not numbers through 999 again?
The reason for the concern is that the game number is the only "name" players have to refer to the experience. Once it's recycled, it's rendered meaningless, making it virtually impossible to reference the experience in the future. For example, I was in the one and only game 310 with GSI. This was wholly and completely different than my other games 308 and 312. They each refer to a very specific experience. I'm currenlty in my 2nd game 66 in a couple of years... I can talk to people "You were Cardolan in 310!" or "Weren't you the Dwarves once, in some game I was in, a couple years back?". The difference is quite stark. If game numbers were simply incremented through 999, at least a long time would go by before the same one was recycled.

I agree with Brad here. I LOVED game 223 (even though I lost. ) Not even
one year later there was already ANOTHER game 223. I'm currently in my
second game 227 in only 2 years. My "first" game 227 was the 7-turn game
with "the cheater". Great fun there. .
I recently met an opponent from my old game 223 in a new game . . . I had to
tell him "I remember you from the 2001-2002 game 223" so as to not be
confused with the 2003 game 223. And who knows how many 223's came before?
They were probably all cheap experiences. Not special like MY 223 . .
The game numbers are meaningless these days and are recycled way to quickly.
It was odd having been in game 232 for quite a while and then receiving a
new game set-up for game 225.
I want this fixed or I will drop all my games unless you let me be WW and CL
in the next 2950. Just kidding. That seemed funny at 2:30 am.
