The reason I suggested this possible variation is that often the opening
moves of a game set its direction. This can mean that from an early stage
there is an inevitability about the result, with one side winning and
grinding down the opposition and the other side holding out and hoping for a
miracle.
An all neiutral game might be genuinely open ended. I could lead my nation
for ever.

One variation I would like to try would be to take the team element out of
the game. This might be done by having an all neutral game of 4th Age with
no one having any information at the start about anyone else's position.Anyone else fancy this ? or am I just being a bit loopier than usual ?
Well you made me smile. The reason ME is superior to other PBMs is
simply because of the team element. Wanting to take the team element
out, is rather like wanting to take the team element out of cricket or
football. To a certain extent, 4th age does this already - it's the
main reason why I personally don't like 4th age, and think of it as a
step backwards in the development of the game.Good luck to you though if you get your game - I've certainly played
with one or two chaps whom it would suit!Regards,
