I never meant to insult or badger Laurence or anyone. If it came across as
such I apologize! I admire Marc and felt he didn't deserve the little
swipes.
Truly the rest of Laurence's comments were fine.
With that said I have found that sometimes the winners in a game did the
most and took the most pounding and sometimes they didn't. In a good team
game it really doesn't matter who wins but it is still fun to get a cert.
If nothing else than to pin down that WW spot!
In a non-team game then you can and do get folks who should never get a win
sneaking in and winning. Bad scene if you ask me.
The best bet would be to see what Clint decides on certs and go from there.
Personally, I have a couple and have only used one (I grabbed the WW!). The
rest of the time I have been in a team game (or asked for the Khand as my
first choice) so no need to use the silly things. Since you do get a cool
printed certificate to hang on the wall there is some bragging rights
associated with them.
I appreciate Din's remarks throwing a little water on things!

Matt come out swinging for Mark. I assume Mark should
have read marc, but Matt's response is even more
insulting than Laurence. Oh joy. I've seen middle east
battles start them way (ie 'they started it first by
throwing rocks', then 'you started it first by using
guns on the rock throwers', and then 'you then
starting it by snipering on people, and planting
bombs').
At least Ashley comments were nice. They attacked
Laurence's comments, and did so in a positive way.
Very impressed.

And thus he added fuel to Mr Tilley's fire...
Actually, given that PBM players rarely meet face to face, who are you going
to brag to? Your mom?

Well thank you. And thanks to all for their amusing comments in this
thread.
I have to say that you had me chortling. But to clarify, since you were
initially unsettled: I wasn't flaming Marc, or taking these sinister,
subtle swipes, which are apparently worse that flames.
But I was certainly poking fun at him. I found his dilemma rather
amusing - it hinges on the affront that someone feels when their special
privilege has suddenly become available to all - ironic for a Colonial
coming to Old England, to find that _it_ is now the Land of the Free.
I thought his final threat was a little petty, and that he was on his
soapbox and deserved some good humoured heckling from the back of the
crowd. I really wasn't suggesting that he wasn't suggesting that he was
not a gentleman! Good Lord, are you looking for Pistols at Dawn?
My comments against the GWCs in general were serious, as discouraging
team play, and I'm pleased to see that Mark uphold them in his
"defence". Several others chimed in against the VCs and VPs -
refreshing. And finally, I wasn't seriously suggesting that he didn't
have any friends - you know, just because someone does not rely on
simileys, you should not assume that they are evil b*st*rds out to get
you (or your friends). If you have a tendency to do that then you
should seek some Professional Therapy. (Now have a cup of tea while you
ponder the spirit in which that is meant!)
