bumped......?
getting bumped was my attempt to fit in the current
policy of 'what nation do you want to play ?' with
using WC to say 'I claim this nation'. Getting bumped
in not offical policy (BTW, I didn't realise that WC
allow free entry and 2 free turns. I felt it was now
only useful for FA games).
When you signed up for a game with Deft, you gave
them a listing of nations you would prefer,
in order of preference. The promise to "try their
best" to make everyone happy.Does H-A-R-L-E-Q-U-I-N tell you "YOU WILL PLAY <***>
IN THE NEXT GAME"....?
Lets do the last normal game I know about (2950 g28).
A mate emailed harlequin and said 'I want to play the
rangers in a 2950 game'
He was told 'that position is still free, so its
yours'. He was offered a standby position in a
recently started 2950 game (I think it was the
riders), but he decided to wait for the rangers.
As this stage no one else can take the rangers for the
next normal 2950 game. If they want it, they are told
'nope, but you can play nations x, y and z'. When only
a few nations are left, Clint sents out a global
message inviting anyone to grab them.
This doesn't make sense....or, as I am getting the
creeping suspicion, you sign up for a
particular nation, and then get in the next game
where that nation is free...?
yeap.
This doesn't make sense either. Pick a popular
nation, and 14 other people are ahead of you
in line..
I don't think i've played the noldor. Clint would
disallows people claiming positions too far ahead, ie
someone might have already claimed the WW in the next
2950 game, but no one could claim the WW in the game
after that.
does every game have to wait until each
of 25 are actually "chosen" first? If not who
gets to choose and who gets the lottery?
first come, first serve, no special deals.
The GM's sometimes play a position that stays vacent
(so that all FP and DS nations are active when the
game starts). In G28, Sam - another middle earth GM,
is running one of DS nation (I forget which one).
There are offical rules for these situations, and I'll
leave these rules for another email.
But the bottom line is that every player knows what
nation they will be before T0 comes out.
Myself, I just want in the VERY NEXT GAME when I
send in a request to play........
That the request that clint would love. He would said
'what side ?', then check what nations are free, and
decide what nation you will be. He then emails you and
says 'you are down as nation xxx, if that OK ?'.
Please help us pathetic, poor speaking,
burger-confused, individualistic anti-team types
who,
from the continent that took over the leadership of
the world over a hundred years ago,
100 years ago ? I think the USA become number 1 only
in the last 50 years. In the year 1901 England was
still number 1. But this aussie doesn't care, as we
have the best beaches, and the women down here are
looking good in their swim-suits.
can't seem to make sense of what must be an
extremely simple (such that even a child, well,
maybe not an american child...could understand
it...) system?
The difficultity lies in who played the nations that
get the stuffings kicked out of them. Since its a flat
fee, people prefer to run a nation with 21 characters
and several thousand HC, than a nation that is
expected to still be on single digit characters, and
who lose characters and pop centres every turn.
Some games charge a turn fee based on how many
characters do such, but M/E isn't one of them.
Your gracious insight and understanding most
appreciated.Brad Brunet
oh yeah, I'm confused regarding the email
humour....I often seewhen I'm assuming, by
the words and the tone, that the writer really means
but are just being polite....? Yes ?
means that the person is smiling when he says
something. The hard question is 'why is he smiling'
???
thanks
