Hi
I’ve tried a few times to get Joverseer to work, without success. As I’ve just bought a new computer, with Windows 7, I thought I’d have another go, still without success.
When I import files it says there have been serious errors and the hex information in the top right corner is crushed-up and unreadable.
Is there something obvious that I’m missing?
David

Hi David,

I also use W7(p). Like you I had problems in the beginning. I also get this errormessage, but I just ignore it. Maybe because I didnt specified NEW XMLs ? I will not change that in the middle of a game. JO works fine for me.
I dont know why you cant read hexinformation. Have you tried the "restore original layout" option ? Did you downloaded and run the installer/setup- file? I did and then it finaly worked for me too. I was very long very frustrated because I wasnt used to W7, but now it works fine.

Ensure you have the latest Java version, of course.

Make sure you don't select the New XML option unless, of course, you're using the new xmls...

I still get the odd import error when characters or pops have accented characters.... If you like, shoot me a print screen (paste to a Word doc..?) of what you see and I can work with the developer to ascertain any real issues.

Cheers,

Brad

Yes, "Install" the application then run it, either via the .bat file or the .jar file.

No, the new xmls are the ones created by the new PC based engine. It still has problems to fix so we only use it for some games while we track down those bugs and fix them.
We will let everyone know if their game is using the new xmls at the game start. Right now the Kinstrife test games and 56 are the only games using that code.

No, the new xmls are the ones created by the new
PC based engine. It still has problems to fix so
we only use it for some games while we track down those bugs and fix them.
We will let everyone know if their game is using
the new xmls at the game start. Right now the
Kinstrife test games and 56 are the only games using that code.

JO has a drop down in your Order Editor screen - and draws them on the map for you... Load your teammates orders and draw those 2, poof, never have 2 emissaries land on the same empty hex again. I can go on for a while....information is power, this is an iPhone vs a solar calculator kind of argument. People like horses, there familiar and sentimental - go ahead and ride from Paris to Berlin if you want, I'll take my Audi S8, thanks...see you there...

Rob

Arent all xmls NEW today?

Â
Ensure you have the latest Java version, of course.

Make sure you don't select the New XML option
unless, of course, you're using the new xmls...

I still get the odd import error when characters
or pops have accented characters.... If you
like, shoot me a print screen (paste to a Word
doc..?) of what you see and I can work with the
developer to ascertain any real issues.

Cheers,

Brad

the beginning. I also get this errormessage,
but I just ignore it. Maybe because I didnt
specified NEW XMLs ? I will not change that in
the middle of a game. JO works fine for me.

Have you tried the "restore original layout"
option ? Did you downloaded and run the
installer/setup- file? I did and then it finaly
worked for me too. I was very long very
frustrated because I wasnt used to W7, but now it works fine.
