GB Game 6 ends with DS victory

Hi Guys

I played the DkLt/Rhu. I started off with very poor locate spells so I didn’t get any sigficant artifacts to start with. That however changed when DkLt threaten off 2617 from NG with Gothmog. I was very anxious when I saw Gildor on the pop report so all I could do was challenge and hope for the best. Lucky me, Gildor didn’t refuse and had RoW and Collowesta on him. I take over FK in great shape turn 14ish and after that it was just downhill all the way. Rhudaur never saw Arthedain and Cardolan and Duns over in the early game. Dwarfs and Sinda was forever quiet annoying and kept taking my pops (shame on you). There was some times when things looked a little grim. Eg. when Eo burned 3221, 3222 and 3122, but was pushed back again. I recamped 3221 and 3222 and improved them and threatened 3024 with FK so turn 22 I completely controlled The black gate and the Illithid pass. My progress was close to unimparred because NG/Duns started SS’ing very early and never was taken over (I think when nations SS more than e.g. three turns in a row they should be considered dead when doing the 4:1 calculation. I felt a little lame over my victories when my opponent was not issuing orders - waste of money IMHO). I think the Noldo player must have been very displeased with me, since I took out Elladan (challenged with Arfanhil), Gildor (Challenged with Gothmog) and Glorfindel (kitnapped by Carrog). By turn 25ish, I think only Eo/SG/Dwarfs/Sinda and Noldo was active and I started chewing into Mirkwood and NG taking 2924, 2514, 2413 and at turn 33 2212. Game ended turn 35 with Corsairs as winner. From very early on I had #1, #4 and #44 so I had 5 super killers. I got my first curse artifact turn 30 (from costal waters at Cardolan coast)

Thanks all for a good game (I little more action would have been nice though;)). If anybody is interested in swapping pdfs, let me know.

PS. IK you #¤%&#"¤&, that guy “Margryr” you sicknessed to dead @ 3624 turn 22 was FK  he had +55com from Tarandor I had to spend 3 turns picking up afterwards. Glad you didn’t took Miruimor

Hi all, original Arth/Harad player checking in.

After a promising start the FP team were badly hurt by a series of drops.

Initally I traded blows with the WK while Duns and Card took the fight to Rhudaur. I thought we were laughing when the Woodmen and Dwarves made an appearance over from GG with Rhudaur seeming to be on the back foot only to have cardolan/dwarves/duns/NE suddenly become inactive. We lost several of these to drops (and NG I think) early if memory serves.

Harad and SG took out the QA fairly early, and then I ceded the south bank to the Corsairs whilst removing all the ports from the north and fortified 2632. And hung on until the agents and cursers appeared. Harad really are in toughh position in GB! Especially with NG inactive early.

I hung on until turn 22/23 I think when the lack of activity from other team mates became too much and I decided enough was enough.

Congrats to the DS team. Shame you didn’t have more active opposition.

Paul

PS I can send turn info if desired.

Hey guys,

I was the Corsairs & Dragon Lord throughout the game. I was interested to hear what happened to the QA (thanks for the update). I might be able to shed some light on the WM. On turn four I burnt the WM backup while intentionally having Urgubal kill himself (and his army) on the walls of 2508. I think he went bankrupt, as I never saw any indication of him doing anything from that point onwards and several of popcentres disappeared after that.

As the Corsairs, I have to salute Harad’s fight. Also, congrats to the Sinda and Dwarves for a good fight.

Wade

Wade, I sent one navy on turn 1 to 3533, which I captured turn 2 then moved to pick off a couple of the minor QA pop centres south of the river. SG took 3034 on turn 5 (I think) which I guess put the QA out.

If I had known I’d get such good support from SG early I might not have given up south Harad unfought. Although it is pretty much undefendable against the recruiting power and navy of the COrsairs. To take down all the ports and harbours in the north meant I had to name a lot commanders early which meant by the time your curse squad and agents arrived (around turn 18ish?) I had nothing to fend them off with. I still think it would be a useful tactic for future games especially if more FP support was available.

As a first GB it was pretty enjoyable, at least until the drops came.

Congratulations to the Dark Servants in game 6!

Noldo/Eoth and IK/LR swapped some thoughts on this game on a different thread when it completed. (see below)

Should have known it was you Jeppe as the Dk Lt that Gildor Gothmog thing was a whole lot of pain for the Noldo. Glad to have caused you just a slight amount of concern at the NW gate.

Drops for the FP were crippling only NE/Eot finished and Harad/Arth saw it through to the later stages. Cardolan/Sinda NMen/Dwarves NG/Duns dropped early and Woodmen out very early we didn’t really have much of a team left.

As the last representative of the FP I have just written to Harly surrendering.

Well played to the DS you managed to keep together a core of active nations through the 34 turns. There are always mitigating factors and I think that losing 4 nations to drops early on after they had been inactive for a while and the Woodmen going out early swung it in your direction.

Noldo obsession with curse artifacts didn’t help either - could they have been more distant or guarded with riddles answering Sauron and Melkor - never very healthy for a good Elf. Elrond hangs his head in shame at not being able to 900 one.

Lots of good strong characters left but economy was disintergrating and your last turn attack on Lorien was the final straw.

Gothmogs challenge on Gildor also was enough to make me weep. Latest count was 6 evenly matched PC’s all lost.

Best DkLt/Rhudaur I’ve seen in a GB I can only presume Cardolan/Sinda didn’t really play allowing you to hold off Arthedain. Credit to Arthedain he kept Harad alive and only dropped 4/5 turns ago. Also to North Gondor/Dun who I figure was the only other FP to make a game of it.

Eothraim/Noldo
& Arthedain at the end.

It was a fun game Ian.

My poor Ice King seemed under constant attack and at one point was defending the North Gate on his own.

The Long Rider became a Military nation early on and stayed like that even before his agents were got by the Noldo.

At least both my nations were making profits on the last turn.

IK and LR

I was trying to push your IK out after taking Morannon and Durthang but your LR and friends put the Eoth under too much pressure and we had to withdraw. The LR agents was the only bright spot for many turns.

I knew your IK had relocated to 3624 but I couldn’t get a good perceive secrets off to see if you had a back-up. Anyway those kidnapped emi’s are free to go home.

Woody

Yeah I kind of noticed <grin>. Well they didn’t until the turn you showed up then I transferred a whole bunch of MT over to them… Just making sure…

Thomas

Hi Ian

So it was you that was Noldo  Regarding good play from Rhu, I never saw attacks from the NW nations, so I really didn’t have a hard time. The NG/Dun player SS’ed from very early on. Turn 20ish I think :frowning: It really is a shame for both sides, expetially when it is half the nations of one sides who SSs.

I had the feeling from the coordination that Sinda/Dwarfs/SG has played by the same person after Cardolan, NM and WM were dead.
