Our team is made up of 4 guys that have been playing PBM for a very long time, probably 15+ years each, but haven’t played ME much. We probably have the most experience in a game called ALAMAZE. And 3 guys that we recruited from the ME system. They were recommended by Clint, and we met one in a prior game. We have one European, and the rest are Americans. Our European has been a great team player so no real noise between countries. We have one player who is the tactition and reads all the orders and corrects orders and makes suggestions. We have several players who will offer advise and opinions here and there. Believe it or not, I’m just the diplomat for the team, and the team blogger.
Hang in there, the Rhudaur will still rule the world of 61
Is Alamaze the one with all the islands? You kinda spec out your own nation and go from there? I know I’ve heard of it and back in like 94 played something like it. We won’t implode. Our problems are our team goes from America around the globe to Austrailia, with stops in UK, Spain, and some other place I can’t remember.
Alamaze is a smaller PBM game (15 players). Probably as old as ME-PBM and as decorated. No Islands. Go to Pegasusprod.com to get more details.
Glad to hear you guys are still in, you team is giving us a run for our money, and that is what it is all about. I’m just hoping I can survive the next few turns…
If anyone knows how you feel, it is me. The Poor WK/Rhu have been blitz’ed by 7 different nations now. More than 1/2 your team. I’m a wolverine in the corner now, just defending the best I can. I’m just hoping I can survive through round 10 in the North, that would be a small victory.
i think the game with all the islands was “Suzarian?” just a guess. i recall that game had all islands, many many years ago. alamaze, wow, i havent heard that name in a long time. i flipped a coin between that one and “earthwood” many years back. played earthwood. ( if anybody remembers that one, lets have a beer and chat you circa 1985 player)
having a guy check orders and do the yeomans work is important, and under utilized. this is shaping up to be an interesting game( finally), and with winter coming, holds a bit of promise for the free side. only a bit.
too bad your so far away in angmar. it would trouble me to take your head, but i’m a quick healer. luck in all things outside this game to you and your teammates. its been most enjoyable, not just from the current map situation. quality opposition is hard to find.
Earthwood, Ha! I remember that one. It was terrible if I recall. I have played about every PBM game worth trying, Hyborian War being my first in the early 80’s, if anyone remembers that one. Alamaze was a good balanced game, much like ME, but Alamaze had a better singles game than ME, and ME is much better on the team game aspect. I would rate Alamaze and ME the best balanced games I’ve played.
Take my head will ya, stand in line my friend.
Turns due tomorrow, hopefully lady luck will be on our side.
Hope Springs eternal for turn 7! Lady Luck appears!!
Seems the goodies ran into the brick wall this turn. Terrorism strikes hard and fast, deep into the goodie ranks. Will the Corsairs, SG, or anyone brag on turn 7? I doubt it. Of course we admit Luck was on our side this turn, I’m not taking too much credit here for our skill had little to do with the success.
Dave
WK/Rhu - still ticking like the energizer bunny.
dave,
a tip of the helmet from the corsairs to lady luck and your crew. my 500 steel clad hc vs what 450 lite( at best) class troops, and i die? damn those elephants.
the hit on sanga saved 2135. the army at 2135 is going down, but not the pop center. nailed two harbor/ports also saved the island. thats a lot of agent assets in the south, i’m both flattered and sadly THWARTED. but theres a lot more where that came from dave. you bought the avenger sometime. again, well played by you and yours. luck is fickle, and i’m about due some myself. you blocked that attack, but i still easily hold the initative, and my balance sheet is a lot cleaner.
It was an amazing turn for luck indeed. Of course good planning increases your chances for good luck to happen.
I’m just glad the DW’s main army is dead at 1910. While there isn’t much breathing room yet with the Arthedain proudly sitting on both by capitals (Rhu & WK) with no ability to take either, it does appear that I may have hope yet. This turn is critical for my survival.
One Question for your team: Why did you sacrifice the army against 2715 last turn, when you had reinforcements coming this turn? Didn’t make sense to me, but maybe there is a reason.
i have taken this burden, in an effort to get it done before too much effort is spent. the free side resigns, and WE will not be running anymore orders. the field is yours, and i’m going to share on details. WE had internal team issues, that could not be resolved. theres no reason to point fingers, nothing will be accomplished, and i hope everybody on the free side respects this idea.
for my part, i apologize for this sudden drop. WE joined together, and will retire together, and thats about the only thing WE did as a team.
sm ex#21 in uk 61
nice head shot on my hero SANGA, thats was 2200 hi, and you saved 2135. yes, i had a slew of war machines.
David, do I have this correctly? Your team has completed three grudge games, back to back, in a year’s time? How does the quick churn affext your team’s PRS score?
Only 2 of those games count, the first was a wierd curcumstance that I don’t think GSI counted. Long story, and it doesn’t matter.
I have no idea on the scoring for the games, personally I don’t care, I’d MUCH MUCH more like to just have a good long fun game where we can beat the “stuff” out of each other. As Smuller has, it is all about the entertainment.
dave,
i am very sorry about 61. as the corsair, i certainly wasn’t interested in falling down. sometimes, these things just happen. i’m pretty certain, to a nation, our side has a very high opinion of both you and your team. it just wasn’t gonna work. if anybody is shopping for some good 1650 grudge opposition, daves crew is pretty tight.
there, a plug for you and yours, and now, i depart. only to be reincarinated, down the line. can’t help you on the pdf thing( i’m quick on the delete key), but if you wanna chat, drop a line. the plays the thing. better games to all.
Well, after 3 games in one year this is very discouraging. I’m in a quandry about continueing to play ME-PBM or something try else. I don’t have the funds to keep more than 2 positions open at a time. I enjoyed each game and our competition, however just felt like I was given only book one of a triliogy 3 times straight. Scott, does Clint know you have resigned, I haven’t heard from ME-PBM yet regarding the game status…
We did indeed tell MEPBM that we were tossing the towel. Dave don’t give up on the game. Try the GunBoat version. Years ago before the advent of all this massing of information about turns and such, the fog of war was thick indeed. But due to this fact games seemed to run longer. In the Gunboat you play two nations and cannot discuss the game with any other players. Quite interesting concept actually. I’m sorry we imploded twice. You guys seem like good fellows and players and I feel we jammed you up. But hey at least you Won!
Keep Swinging for the bleechers,
