Okay I like Chris C's idea on the buyout here, create a new company that we
as Middle Earth pays royalties to etc. Would keep things nice and separate.
That way you guys would get some funds and game security.
(Two reasons for buying GSI out that I can see.
1) Security of the game - get the game brought upto date visually, and make
some improvements to the game. Hopefully we can make a better job of it.
?!
2) Make money - we've looked at this and I don't think for us it's a major
consideration as we don't think there is a lot to make here compared with
the investment. But with the film it is distinctly possible.)
Ouch so we would have to buy 51% to get 51% - cheese! I would worry
about having too much player control here - basically PBM is a very
difficult business to be in, and most of the people investing are used to
bigger funds than we expect to be able to earn - hence would expect bigger
returns on their monies. I can look at the figures and discuss it with
anyone who seriously is considering investment in the game. Get in touch -
preferably off the list - if you are considering it. (We've kept the
interested ones at present).
Note we don't want to change the game drastically - "If it ain't broke don't
fix it - but if it is broke then fix it". So we would intend to fix the
broken parts - with due consideration to our player's desires here of
course. Scenario development is a popular and useful way to do things here
I think rather than changing the game mechanics which seem pretty sound.
