I had hoped that it was clear that the main purpose of this was to
improve the game. This is not a get rich quick scheme but a means of
investing in our hobby. Obviously, given the amounts involved, people
would need to see something more for their money than an improved
product but equally there are surer investments out there. Of course
you could have invested in the stock market a year ago and seen
negative growth.
That said, this could be a good earner. I think 5 X net profit is a
good indicator of price though GSI will expect a premium price
because of the films. I reckon the GSI profit is around $30-35k
possibly $40K giving $200k. Add $25k premium and $75k development
capital for $300k. Triple the player base using development capital
whilst reinvesting 50% of take, gives up to $60k a year returning
your investment within four years. Looks pretty good to me.
Of course if it doesn't work out we lose lots of money. Like
investing in the stock market a year ago!
My judgement is that Clint et al would make as good a go as possible
with the game which is why I would put some hard earned cash into it.
I am prepared to invest in them, not an ad campaign or games system.
They have built a succesful PBM games company under harsh conditions
through hard work and savvy. I already have businesses and recognise
some of the skills necessary to run them successfully and am happy to
let them get on with running this one having been given the freedom
and finance to do it properly.
No investment is without risk or a sure thing but I have seen large
amounts of money poured into the kind of rubbish that makes this look
a golden opportunity.

When I took my graduate classes in business administration,
admittedly quite
long ago, I was told that a business should invest speculative
capital only
if it can expect a 15-20% per year "return on investment". You can
recoup an
investment in twenty years with much less risk, e.g. buying high-
grade
···
utility stocks or even a money-market mutual fund.
