As for teams that give up too early - I think that's for them
to decide.
If the other team have bluffed them, then great. Post game discussions
are some of the best - there's nothing to stop the GM giving his view
after the event. The game also has a morale aspect - you batter the
enemy nation, and in your head you picture the depressed guy
reading his
turn sheet. If you beat a team by eroding their confidence then that's
great - just look at what happens to the England cricket team every
year. Their skills are not cr*p, you can see that on paper, but the
other teams, esp. the bl**dy Aussies, intimidate them.
would assies ever try to intimidate the other side (game 34 not included ?)

not intervene any more than an umpire should.
actually if one player is insulted another player during a cricket match,
the umpire is allowed to interfere.

Yes, because that's a breach of the rules, and his judgement is needed
as to what severity of language and tone constitutes insult. That IS
his role. He is not interfering because his judgement tells him that
one team is losing, or "in danger of collapse because they don't realise
things aren't too bad".

He's entitled to give his opinion, because he's an observer. If an
Umpire said this, you'd think it remiss. Wouldn't you, even in
Australia?
Anyway. The first test against Zimbabwe starts in 2hrs 20mins. Should
be able to get through the e-mails by then. We can't lose to Zimbabwe
surely... can we?
