Help from the Game Co.

Hey there to Clint, Stuart, and others,

Jerry M. Roberts here. I am using a thread to ask you guys to look into an issue for me. On Thursday the 17th, I made a payment through WorldPay to the game acct and on Sunday the 20th I posted orders for game 40 nation 22 and game 45 nation 15. As of today I still have not received confirmation that my orders were received by the automated confirmation note we usually get nor have I received any word on the status of my account though my credit card is showing the removal of funds. Further, I have sent two emails to me@middleearthgames.com from Tuesday and Wednesday when I did not receive the resultsheets on time and I still have not received any word from the company on my notes questioning all of the above.

Sorry to use the forum for personal business, but I am out of options since it would appear I am unable to reach anyone via the usual email though it has never been an issue before. If necessary, you can send the resultsheets to morgulhammer@yahoo.com which is my brother’s email as he has received all of his turns. My address is wyndhammer@yahoo.com. Would someone please get back to me so that we can clear up the issue. My thanks for your attention to this matter and I will take your comments off the air.

Thanks,
jerry m roberts
Man, I am fiendin’ for some resultsheets…help a brotha out!

Hya Jerry

We’ve sent on the turns 3 times and also emailed you but looks like it’s been blocked. Note in these situations you don’t get a reply from us because email is playing up so generally you’ll need to get in touch a different way (via John in the US if need be via phone, or a friends’ email which isn’t with the same server). We’ve not had any bounces. Money has been received for Jerry’s account (added on the 18th), but Jason’s account is low funds.

We’ve sent on turns to both email accounts but not got anything back. I’ll now send them onto allies within the games so that you can get the turns there (and ask them to forward them). Looks like a problem with Yahoo - you might need to look at a different server, or contact them to see if you’ve put us on a spam list (or they have).

Clint

Sorry to but in…but if you are using MSN email…be warned that they are notorious for losing emails.

I had tons of trouble with them and eventually switched providers.

I would notice emails not appearing then call service and they’d say they have been having this problem a lot and then tell me how to reset and resynch my whole email system at which time I’d get a flood of dozens of emails that were sitting in limbo somewhere.

Again, sorry to butt in but it sounds like a problem I had…good luck.

Hiya Clint!!

I did not think about the spam thing though my McAfee filter is currently expired. I will look into the bulk mail box and see if they are there. I can rest easy now knowing that you have been diligent and sent the turns to allies so that the games can go forward.

My many thanks to you and yours for your efforts. Please accept my gratitude and good gaming to you all.

Hey Darrel the other,

I had heard of MSN being difficult and I have always had success with Yahoo til this incident. Not sure what is going on unless one of the game updates like the FrontSheet was detected as spam and sent to the bulk mail.

All the best,
jerry

I used a Yahoo account for 5 years for ME but when 1 in 3 turns were lost
I switched to Hotmail. Only 1 turn delayed in 6 months; about 80 turns
in all so not a bad ratio.

Guy

I switched from something, forget what, to a yahoo account 4 or so years ago. Have since switched yahoo emails. Only time I ever “lost” a turn, I sent an email to the company, they said “We sent it, but we’ll send you another one” and then presto, I get both immediately after…I’ve never blamed yahoo technology, because frankly, I work with people too and know all too well what they’re capable of…

Brad

Emails not perfect but the system we’ve set up is reasonably good (we’ll be bringing out a server soon so that it shoud help you guys out).

Sending turns is pretty much automated (and we do check as well) so in 99/100 times that a turn’s gone “missing” it’s a server issue. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it… (LOL)

Jerry - if you’ve not got the turns please get back to me.

Clint (GM)

Technophiles usually snicker when they see my AOL address, but I’ve never, in 10+ years of playing MEPBM, had a turn go missing. (Of course the first several of those 10+ I received paper turns in the mail from Florida, if some of you young whippersnappers can believe that…).
Drew

Easily spent years waiting for the postman to drop the letters through the
mailbox in those good ol student days.

Geez you guys are old farts! LOL yes I remember waiting for the mail making up my 3X% card diplos with phone numbers becuase you never took a chance on SS you only had 48 hours if you was lucky to mail those orders right back off.
As for Yahoo for email I been using Yahoo.com for about 10 years now… Only problems I have had when I did not check my email’s daily and my bulk mail closed my account due to bulk mail maxed out my in box… That has changed… Alot of the Yahoo kickbacks really occur becuase of the time difference and server maintenance during the turn mailouts…
Yes my first PBM was Hyborian War my second Middle Earth and my First Home Computer had 16K of ram and no Drives so that makes me just a plain OLD Geek!

Terry

LOL yeah paper turns. Had to rely on the postie :frowning:
Wet in the mailbox :frowning:
Many times i had to wait for turn sheets to dry. Had a couple days to get sorted and send back. I was playing in the Aussie based game at the time.
I remember racing to the post office to fax turn sheets through so i didn’t get s.s’ed :))
