I'm a most inexpert web master, and am hoping somebody can help me over
this problem:
I wanted to put my alternative desktop icon for Meow and one I've just made
for Palantir on my web page and make them downloadable. See the bottom of http://www.lgtilley.freeserve.co.uk/me.htm
I've put them there, and was planning to put instructions telling the user
to click, right click, then select save - unfortunately IE only lets the
user save it as an .bmp not as an .ico file. I've got Download
Accellerator Pro installed as a bolt on, so the right click gives me a
"Download with Download Accellerator Pro" option, which does invite me to
save it as an .ico file.
Testing from my old mother's machine (ambiguous, but it doesn't matter as
both the mother and the machine are old) which runs Windows 98 and does not
have DAP installed, there's no download option.
Is there a simple solution which I'm missing?
I'm using Frontpage 2002, and don't have a clue when it comes to html.
Maybe it's an IE version problem. I'm running 6.0
and right click, save target as lets me save it as a
ico.
I think you can just rename a .bmp to .ico as long at
the .bmp is a correct pixel size/proportion. I could
be wrong on this.
OH, wait. I see the difference. I clicked on the
link on the main page, not on the picture itself.
When navigating to the icon page, I too get the "save
as bitmap" option. However, when I saved it, it had
.ico extension and I was able to change the icon to
the file with no problem.

My alternative desktop icons for Meow and Palantir are now available from
my ME bits page http://www.lgtilley.freeserve.co.uk/me.htm They won't win
me the Turner Prize, but I like 'em, and anybody who wants them is welcome.
I want to know if anyone has a statistic of games won for each nation,
and with the one ring.
I want to compare with our statistics in Brazil... well, I know we have
a little less games, but if anyones interested, here it is:
Brazil Statistics:
FP Victories : 12 - 4 NE, 2 NG, 2 SG, 1 SE, 1 AR, 1 HA, 1 DU
DS Victories : 15 - 4 QA, 3 DL, 2 EK, 2 LR, 1 DL, 1 FK, 1 CO, 1 EA
One Ring Victories: 1 QA, 1 AR
