Hostages

The problem with imprisoning in a pop center is that the hostage remains in one place. With a Reveal Char True the enemy can find the location. with a Rescue Hostage capable agent, they can free their guys.

I usually execute characters with agent rank, and transfer non-agents to lesser characters that are unlikely to die (mages/emissaries), that are likely to move every turn or so. In this way, it is very hard to free the hostages. (Only characters with agent rank will have a chance to escape on their own.)

So how do non-agent characters end up escaping? Mind you, it
is usually a long time... :frowning:

Is there a random roll every turn that is adjusted with agent
rank?

Opinions seem to differ on that though don't they? There's lot's of these "established truths" which wobble under testing.

I should be interested to know if we have we got anyone out there confident enough to say that they have seen non-agent characters escape
  - not because the holding nation has been eliminated
  - nor because the holding character has been kidnapped/assassinated
  - nor because the holding character has come a cropper in an encounter
  - nor because the hostage has been released
  - nor because the holding pop has been taken?

I think it would be quite difficult, even in a highly communicative team to exclude all these possibilities.
