How-To Supplement

Yes, please do it. Make it easier for newcomers to
enjoy the game, whether this is done as a separate
piece or as a new rulebook.

The rulebook can certainly be corrected. Some "facts"
in it are just plain wrong -- the note that pc combat
is resolved before army losses accounted, for instance
-- and others are misleading for newbies (the
"miscellaneous" skill orders that are non-skill orders
but can be done only by a commander, for example, as
opposed to Mike Mulka's more sensible terms "skill"
and "non-skill").

But ME-PBM's two-page advice for newcomers is also
pretty good. If you can't rewrite the rulebook, how
about expanding the newcomer's guide?

As Brad notes, a lot of this information is available
in Bree or Bobbin's or elsewhere, but perhaps it could
be excerpted into condensed form.

We all benefit from attracting new players: more
games, more opponents, more life for the game.
