In-game realism

All this talk about adding realism to the game has given me some
ideas as well. Let's talk archers. It was mentioned that they should
have wooden bows instead of steel.I agree, but let's go one step
further and say that the weapon rank depends on WHERE you get the
wood from. Now, everyone knows that the best timber is found in
Lorien,so if you have a camp in Lorien you get good
weapons.Conversely, since Mirkwood is twisted and evil, you would get
crappy weapons. Make sense?
How about bowstrings? The weapon is pretty useless without one.
We'll have to use horse gut. So lets say that one mount equals 100
bowstrings. That was easy!
Now all we need is arrows. The shaft is easy enough, but we're gonna
have to bring in a new product....chickens! The amount per Pop Centre
will depend on the size instead of location. Village...lots of
chickens, City...not so many chickens. As an added bonus, if carried
in the baggage train, they would increase morale of the army 1-10 pts.
because what soldier wouldn't enjoy a nice chicken dinner every now
and then!
If you didn't realize I was joking by the time I mentioned
bowstrings, it's time to sit back, take a deep breath and get a life.

the elves in Lorien would NEVER chop down a live tree.
they would ONLY use the wood of a tree that was
already dead, or buy the raw materials from someone.

So you are wrong on that count. The humans would cut
down anything, so I would say they have access to the
best material. The elves rely on their wood knowledge
and traps (read how the elves defeated the orcish raid
after the walkers got out of moria).

Conversely,since Mirkwood is twisted and
evil,you would get
crappy weapons. Make sense?

Sounds better, however .... mirkwood is full of giant
spiders (ala the Hobbit), so i'm not sure what effect
the spiders would have on the wood. But I'll grant
that people might be too busy avoid the spiders to
locate a nice tree.

So you think that different races have different
strengths for the same troop type ? I'm happy with
that. But I would still like a greater terrain
modifier for race/troop type than the current
modifier.

without one.

How about cat-gut ? Just in case someone doesn't have
mounts being produced. I would consider the cats as
food. Just because the west uses them as pets doesn't
mean they are not good tucker.

Yeap. I'll agree with that. Not many chickens in
cities since they make so much noise they keep
everyone up (that happened in survivors II when they
killed the roster in order to get some sleep).

bonus, if carried

No to mention the eggs.

oops ..... I think i'll just crawl away then.
