Yes, you can steal Gandalf’s ring. I’ve seen it done. I can show you the PDF if I can find it, it was done in a 1650 game I was in. As for other NPC’s, I don’t see why not.
Yes, twice, and once among a team member.
I guess that Galadriel also counts in the same line as Gandalf.
There was a big difference in the episodes, the two times was as DS and both times it was Din Ohtar that was involved. First time I did actual assassinate Gandalf, and second time we just stole it. The rank of Din Ohtar at both times was 100+.
The most interesting event was the lifting of Galadriel ring as FP. Galadriel was present in my TOWN and I had the thought that I could utilize the ring better than her, so I stole it with a 60+ agent.
A lot of things happen I got the ring, but Galadriel was so pissed, she vaporized my town. The turn sheet wrote it the usual “lost due to poor loyalty”. I had another character there so I can confirm that there was only a ruin of the former settlement. So think twice doing the deed in your capitol.
Not only did Bulrakur meet Gandalf, but the grey pilgrim managed to decimate old Bull’s 400hc. Looks like the FP finally got a little luck to break our way, considering what Sauron has been doing to our armies all over the map.
Gildring, it is very interesting about Gandalf vaporising your hc army, if you don’t mind, could you tell me whether he killed your army commander(s)? I had a similar experience while meeting Sauron on turn 1, with my hc army. It was disturbing to wave goodbye to my Regent commander so unexpectedly early.
My question to the wise and experienced is, I presume army encounters with NPC’s such as Gandalf and Sauron only occur to one army in the hex and that they do not automatically attack any or all enemy armies there?
I think you’re right Paul-- one randomly selected army/army commander. But, no, Gandalf did not kill Bulrakur like Sauron does to the FP. Besides, Bulrakur’s army is my enemy’s (Murmur), so maybe he can tell you more.
Here’s another question, possibly also related to 225, has anyone ever stolen an artifact from Durin’s Bane?
"Not only did Bulrakur meet Gandalf, but the grey pilgrim managed to decimate old Bull’s 400hc. Looks like the FP finally got a little luck to break our way, considering what Sauron has been doing to our armies all over the map. "
Actually only 260HC, but still enough to stick it to Celeborns rag-tag bunch that are now there. Darn...oh well, plenty of more schemes to be making, back to cap, its not too far to walk from 3517!
Even when you’re unlucky, you’re lucky! Gandalf should have wacked Bulwacky. We lost Gloin to Sauron several turns ago and it allowed the QA to influence it away from us the same turn, instead of having to assassinate and come back.
Gandalf bestows ten points of emissary rank to any character with an army he encounters (and boosts existing emissary ranks by ten as well). If he encounters Mages he will grant them access to a Lost Spell.
What do you mean. If e.g. I have a 40ishA in the same hex as e.g. Nimanaur, I can 690 ? or do you mean the generic dragon encounter and making 285 repons ?
In my first ever ME game, I had a DS agent doubled and I saw him assass Radagast the Brown and I got the message about artefacts being discovered on the dead body.
It would interesting to know if it’s possible assass Sauron though.
